Rugby player banned for two years
Sri Lanka rugby player Samantha Lakshan who was found guilty of shop lifting during the national team's recent tour in Singapore was banned from the game for two years by Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union disciplinary committee.
The ban will be effective from April 12, 2010 to April 12 of 2012.
Lakshan was detained by Singapore Police for shoplifting in Singapore on April 12 when the Sri Lanka rugby team was touring Singapore for the Asian Five Nation Rugby Tournament. Later he was sent back to the country and Chamara Vithanage was recalled to the side as a replacement for Lakshan.
