Speaking to the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) today the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs Esther Brimmer said:
“The Council’s work remains unfinished so long as Sri Lanka continues to fall short in implementing even the recommendations of its own Lessons Learned and Reconciliation Commission, or in addressing the underlying sources of its longstanding ethnic conflict. Last year’s HRC resolution encouraged brave civil society groups on the ground to continue their efforts, and the United States will introduce another resolution at this session to ensure that the international community continues to monitor progress, and to again offer assistance on outstanding reconciliation and accountability issues. The United States hopes this resolution will be a cooperative effort with the Sri Lankan government.”

(ලංකා ඊ නිව්ස් -2013.පෙබ.25, ප.ව. 1.30) එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ මානව හිමිකම් කවුන්සිලයේ 22 වැනි සැසිවාරය ස්විසර්ලන්තයේ ජිනීවා නුවරදී අද ලංකාවේ වේලාවෙන් පස්වරු 1.30 ට පමණ ආරම්භ වීමට නියමිත අතර, මෙවර සැසිවාරයේදී ඇමරිකාව විසින් රාජපක්ෂ රෙජීමයේ මානව හිමිකම් උල්ලංඝණයට එරෙහිව ගෙන එන යෝජනාවට තම සහාය පළ කරන බව අද ඉන්දියාව නිල වශයෙන් ප්රකාශ කළාය. ඉන්දීය අගමැති මන් මෝහන් සිං මහතාගේ අග්රාමාත්ය කාර්යාලය බාර ඇමැති නාරායන් ස්වාමි මේ බව නිල වශයෙන් අද උදේ ප්රකාශ කර තිබේ.

JVP blames government for creating opportunity for a new US resolution
Sri Lanka's Marxist party, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) says that it is the government that has created the basis within the country for the United States to present another resolution before the UN Human Rights Commission (UNHRC).
JVP Propaganda Secretary, parliamentarian Vijitha Herath has said the basis for the US to present a new draft resolution was created within the country by violating human rights and attacking democratic principles.
"The government paved the way for such a situation. The US as a result is now presenting another resolution. Also, the report and recommendations of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay are also based on the situation in the country," he has noted.
According to Herath, the government has to take full responsibility for creating the necessary environment to present another resolution.
He has added that although the JVP did not fully agree with the entire content in the resolution or the issues raised, the background to present such a resolution was created in the country.
"The government after promising and agreeing certain things to the international community failed to honor these commitments and created new problems in the country. The crisis that was created in the country's judiciary, creating a breakdown in the country's law and order, continuous attacks on the media, carrying out a semi military rule in the North and government forces personnel in civvies attacking protests organized in Jaffna have increased the issues in the country," Herath has said.

u guys should be supporting the UN not Sri lanka government. If sri lanka army kill rape and torture tamils and get away with it. whats stopping them from doing the same to muslims or even to other sinhala people who dont agree. you know what happen in JVP time they did they same thing to tamils on a large scale.
