Police says “we don’t know”.
The Police yesterday said that they were yet to ascertain the identity of the owner of the Defender which was involved in an accident in Kalapaluwawa Rajagiriya yesterday, despite having direct access to records at the Registrar of Motor Vehicles ( RMV).
“We have not received any information regarding the ownership of the two vehicles. We detected the two vehicles, one that met with the accident and the other which sped away,” Police spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana.
The Police said that they are “confused” as to who the owner is. “However, the other Defender too had the same number plate. Therefore we are now confused about the real owner of the vehicle.” Initial reports said that the vehicles were a part of the vehicle convoy of either Duminda Silva or Tissa Attanayake. Several attempts to contact the two politicians proved futile.
