ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 tickets go on sale in Sri Lanka
October 18, 2010 (Island Cricket): Tickets for World Cup 2011 matches held in Sri Lanka will be available for purchase on Thursday, October 21. The public will be allowed to reserve tickets this week but are required to wait till the first week of February, 2011, to receive them.
The World Cup trophy is presented at a press conference in Colombo on April 2, 2010.Tickets can be reserved at Sri Lanka Cricket headquarters in Colombo, Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy, and in Hambantota, at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium.

Ticket prices range from Rs. 30.00 to Rs. 2500.00 with corporate enclosures available for Rs. 5,000.00. / Rs. 10,000.00 and an individual can purchase a maximum of four tickets. A number of tickets will be made available to school children so that they can share in the excitement around the ICC's flagship event. Veterans of the recently concluded civil conflict will also receive tickets.
Sri Lanka will boast of three brand new state of the art world class cricketing venues. The Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy, with a capacity of 25,000, while the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota and the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo, will have the ability to host to 27,000 and 30,000 cricket fans respectively.
The 'Clean & Green' initiative will be an introduced for the event and aims to educate and involve cricket lovers as they hope to ensure minimum pollution, waste and maximum recycling across all three venues and host cities.
Sri Lanka Cricket is to embark on a series of Island wide activations to maximise the fan experience. There will be a 'Cheerathon,' campaign to an nationwide Trophy Tour, complemented by live musical extravaganzas and the 'World Cup Glory Express' - an around-the-island activity, involving celebrities, cricketers and member of the general public.
