What a detailed explanation machan. Thanks for raking your time to share your thoughts. Appreciate it! I totally agree with you and I also felt the same way as you do. Once I was a big fan. I bought their content, I watched the movies they recommend. But I felt like they were just exagerating. Sometimes there is nothing to take from. Sometimes it utter bullshit. Day by day i saw them becoming toxic and thought they are inevitable kind of. And I also saw in their facebook group, how they bullied a person who raise the voice against their switch to paid platform. Totally disgusting. What my opinion is they will do DD and other shit in their streaming shit for a while and eventually come back to YT. They might have the subs now in their platform since now there is a hype. But once people realise what a shitty product that they are paying 9 dollars for, they will lose subs. I am pretty sure it wont take so long.* They are promoting a toxic hardcore die hard fan base adapting to their will forgetting why they started the channel in the first place.
* They have confused their primary product with secondary less important content.
* They are moving to 'do it all by yourself so you can do whatever you wanna do' without accepting the rules and regulations of widely accepted international platforms. This will make them more toxic in the future without consequences (even right now they give a "I'm untouchable" vibe).
* They have started publicly criticizing viewers on YT targeting certain comments of people who criticized them regularly (this is a very toxic behavior for a content creator. Viewers are toxic af throughout YT but content creators should be able to absorb it and ignore them. Even Twitch streamers lost their huge fan bases when they started taking stuff personal. FYI I have never said anything bad ever coz I don't care, I'm just mentioning what I have noticed. I say this just to clear out any doubts that may arise like I also was one of those toxic idiots who commented shit on their YT channel)
* They started promoting their die hard fan bases and only started listening to them.
* Without sharing daily news with a comedic touch like they used to do they started to be opinionated and force feed their ideologies to their viewers and when they don't agree with them they started making fun of those people. That's toxic af.
* They started heavily criticizing most of politicians and their decisions with little info they gathered from here and there. That shows their low IQ and inability to view things from a different perspective other than theirs. (I don't care about NPP, SJB, UNP, SLPP, JVP, Pohottu PP, අර PP, මේ PP. I don't care about political parties and politicians.)
There are many more but in general they just started being toxic as fk in my honest opinion. For a comedy gig anything is off limits and it's an international standard and I'm all for it but when it comes to news sharing, stop being toxic and opinionated about news. In my eyes they are doing the same sht that Derana, Hiru, Sirasa, ITN did/does.
AND their web series are very 'meh'. I don't know why they moved out of YT just to promote those nonsense. They are creating their own toxic bubble of a world.
If they see this post I'm pretty sure rather than taking my point of view and analyzing it they will just criticize me publicly on Daily Dose rather than approaching personally coz they think that's in their power to shit on people and they feel like superior and above everyone
These are my reasons and personal view of them.
Oh I'm sure they will come back to posting DD on YT sooner rather than later. But I have already replaced them with Channel 19 Rundown show which is a much superior, detailed, on point news podcast. Only thing they are lacking is the comedy but I don't mind that. What I don't like about it is Tharindu Uduwa being in a political party. I'm not watching DD again even if it comes back to YT. The content I purchased from SLVlog expired after like 3 months and I was like 'wtf bch, you think these things are Platinum level content for you to put an expire date on them?'. Not spending a single penny ever on them.
