33 LTTE bodies found in consolidating operations
Troops in 57 Division and Special Forces engaged in consolidation operations in north of Vavunikulam, in combined Mannar and Vavuniya front, have found 33 bodies of the LTTE terrorists along with a large stock of arms and ammunition this evening, July 25, a latest report received from the battle front says.
Eight senior LTTE cadres of the 'Charles Anthony' band were also among the terrorists killed during this gun battle, the report added.
The senior LTTE Terrorists killed during fierce battle were identified as Pallavan, Ambumani, Selvakannan, Sellappu, Muhi, Illambu, Sudar and Jenathan who were at the commanding level of the 'Charles Anthony' band in Mannar sector. LTTE outfit have given self-styled rank of "Lieutenant Colonel" to the Pallavan and Ambumani, the report further added.
Twenty-three T-56 weapons, one Rocket Propeller Gun (RPG), fourteen radio sets, four RPG rounds, two hand grenades, 1.5 kg of explosives, six T-56 magazines, one 15 m long detonator code, one motor cycle and several explosive items left behind or used by dead Tigers were also found by the troops from the consolidating areas.
