SLT Static IP

Is there anybody who's using static IP with SLT? I want to buy one but everyone at SLT I speak to doesn't seem to have the proper info with them
as per their info they the lease time of a DHCP IP is 10 hrs and every 10 hours we lose internet for couple seconds when the IP gets renewed.

they all tell me that even If I buy a static IP, I will still face this issue.

My question is, if I buy a Static IP, are they going to reserve the IP from the DHCP scope or are going to provide me an IP out of the DHCP scope?

Don't know about slt. But I had a one from dialog. It was a fixed IP and worked fine until I switch to a dedicated IP from vpn.

Don't ask advance questions from the SLT hotline or regional offices. They don't know exactly what happens. For regular dynamic IPs, that is correct. they renew it every 10hrs and there is some little internet disconnection but I don't think the same will happen in Static IPs.

now I am waiting till they come back. I know this is just a waste of time, resources, and an unnecessary process of escalation for something small like this. yet this is the national carrier we have to deal with whether we like it or not.

Typical sri lankan situation bro. never expect that kind of support from them unless you have someone who is working on their technical staff. I was doing many projects in their datacenters in fort and welikada. also have visited their callcenter, so I know the situation there.

e atharin ena line drop eka enne nam mn gitanne adsl hinda thamai. (Static ip ona nam wenama monthly rental ekak thiyenwa mama danna widiyata)

cable ekata satek panala arahe mehe una gamn drop wenawa. Godakma drop wenawa nam karanna thiyenne speed eka adu karana eka.
Mokada speed eka wadi karanakota line attenuation da kohed adu wenwa. ethkota connection stable naa.

Mama 16Mbps walata speed eka hadagattama sahenna drop wenna gatta. eetapsse 11Mbps walata speed eka adu karagatta. dan stable.

ෆයිබර් වල 10hrs IP Renew වෙද්දි ආයිත් නෙට් එන්න යන කාලයත් වැඩියි. සාමාන්‍යයෙන් තත්පර 20කට විතර ඩ්‍රොප් වෙනව. ADSL වල නම් ඉක්මණට කනෙක්ට් වෙනව. ඔතැන ඔයා සර්වර් එකක් වගේ කරන්න uninterrupted කනෙක්ෂන් එකක් බලාපොරොත්තු වෙනව නම් SLT එකේ වෙනව තියෙනව බිස්නස් ප්ලෑන් එකක්. හැබැයි මාසෙට ලක්ෂෙකට එහා පැත්තෙ ගෙවන්න වෙයි. ඒවගෙ වෙනම බැක්අප් කනෙක්ෂන් එකකුත් දෙනව. වෙනම හොට්ලයින් එකකුත් දෙනව. කැඩුනොත් එවෙලෙම හදල දෙනව මම හිතන්නෙ වෙන අලාබෙත් ගෙවනව. ඒ වගේ කනෙක්ෂන් එකකට යන්න වෙයි හරියටම කරනව නම්. එහෙම නැත්නම් Static IP එක නම් අර වගේ ඩිස්කනෙක්ට් වෙන එකක් නෑ. ඒකට රුපියල් 1500යි නේහ් යන්නෙ? එයින් එකක් ගන්නව නම් හොඳට ටවුන් ඒරියා එකක ලූප් එකක් ළඟින්ම අරගෙන වැඩේ කරන්න.

They will renew your connection every 10 hours even if you have Static IP. So you will lose the internet connection for about 20-30 secs every 10 Hours.

You can buy a static IP address from SLT (payment per month)...
