Sri Lanka gets seven proposals for Hambantota oil refinery

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka has received seven responses to an expression of interest (EOI) to build an export-oriented oil refinery in Hambantota, in the island’s Southern coast, Minister of Energy Kanchana Wijesekera said.
Grant & Shearer Ltd from Nigeria, Sinopec from China, Petrichor Capital from Malaysia, Vitol Group from Singapore, and Martin Tejarat from Iran have submitted their EOIs.
Dandeniya Engineering Sales and Service Syndicate, a local-based company and Sri Lanka’s Harree Management with UAE’s Marka Invest have also shown interest.
The technical evaluation committee & other procurement committees will evaluate EOIs and issue the request for proposal to suitable applicants, Wijesekera said.
