    Yes and no.

    Speed is the main problem with dramless SSD's as flash isn't fast as DRAM.

    SSDs that omit this DRAM can be cheaper and smaller, but because they can only store their mapping tables in the flash memory instead of much faster DRAM, there's a substantial performance penalty.

    But yes having that load on flash itself can affect longevity. Neither are problems with newer HMB dramless SSD's as flash is not used for mapping table storage.
