    Hey

    Never format the hard drive when there is a virus. Y? Coz it may create bad clusters. So you have to remove it somehow. Never use AVG. It's a useless thing. If you want to have an antivirus tool, use bitdefender or nod32, f-secure or kaspersky...They are also available in rapidshare and other sharing sites. Some working patches are they for BD. You can manually download the updates. No trouble. Specially never format a hard drive which has a .bat or .com viruses or trojans. They will not be removed. Any virus can be removed. Manually. We practice that. Its the best way. :yes:

    If u want to get the task manager. use gpedit or regedit. type in run box, gpedit.msc . go to administrative templates-> system->ctrl+alt+del options. And disable the task manager. Apply. Then enable again. Apply. It'll be appeared. If there is trouble...go to safe mood. Type in Run box, msconfig->startup options. remove the entries which are mapped to viruses. You can find whether the entry is virus using the internet. Then re boot . then try doing it again. If the folder options are disabled...
    Get the Run box type in regedit(you have to click enter also each time)
    Then Goto
    HKEY-Local machine->Software->Microsoft->Windows->Current version->Explorer->Advanced->Folder->Hidden
    Checked value - set 2 for the value.
    Go to show all
    Checked value has to be 1.
    HKEY-Local machine->Software->Microsoft->Windows->Current version->Explorer->Advanced->Folder->Supper Hidden
    Unchecked value has to be one.
    When you are in safemood always log in as the "Administrator"
    If its not shown
    Hit ctrl+alt+del twice and you will see the legacy login window.
    Type administrator
    Type the password
    If the registry editing is disabled ...
    Use group policy as earlier(gpedit.msc)
    Also check the entries in
    HKEY-Local machine->Software->Microsoft->Windows->Current version->Policies->Explorer
    HKEY-Local machine->Software->Microsoft->Windows->Current version->Policies->System
    Remember...If you have a Virus as a .bat or .com they will be enabled when you open the drives.
    Locations of a virus to be copied
    Documents and settings/All users /application data
    Documents and settings/Administrator(Or ur admin acount)/Local settings/Temp.
    system32
    windows/Temp
    System32/dllcache
    Drivers folder
    Templates folder
    Root of partitions
    System Volume Information
    Do ALL THIS IF YOU CANT DO A SYSTEM RESTORE ONLY!!!
    when you manually remove and delete viruses make sure you disable system restore using system properties
