watched it few days ago. really sad to see that. I've maybe 25 years old philips audio setup, that was my favorite electronic gadget I had when I was a kid. I think the same will happen to all Japanese car manufactures, including toyota.
This will be the fate of most German brands as well.. i dont think Toyota, since these guys have enough moolah to flip the side.. its just a matter of time..

yes, but german cars at least take some efforts but most probably they also go bankrupt.
I think Toyota will fail badly. It's not only about money, It doesn't matter how much money you've If you don't have experts.
Remember Nokia. Tesla is grabbing all the experts and they innovate, advance the technology in a phase that toyota, vw or any company can't even dream of.

One other product missed in video invented by Philips is DAT(Digital Audio Tape) Recorders which are complex and Sony who got the patent for DAT were not the inventor for commercial recorders for DAT, this came just before CDs and vanished before it could gain any ground! Due to its ability to make exact copies (unlike CDs) DAT recorders had issues in Europe on copyright claims!
Sony also bad few stillborn products such as Betamax, DAT Walkman, Trinitoron first cylindrical CRT and one gun for colour CRT,etc
samsung also had few such things BioTv(a ceramic base made flat screen with high resolution and good for health!), a fully electric car all in early 90s but did not go off the ground!
