If I were to die tomorrow, I know I have eaten more good food, drunk more beer and fine wine, had more friends and seen more of the world than most men ever will. - Andre the Giant

When he turned 12, André weighed 240 pounds, was over 6 feet tall, and could no longer fit on his school bus. Unfortunately, his family did not have the money to buy a car, sturdy enough to carry André to and from school. When Samuel Beckett, playwright and Nobel Prize winner, bought some land near a hamlet, forty miles northeast of Paris, he enlisted the help of some locals to build a cottage. One of those locals was Boris Rousimoff, André’s father, who Beckett befriended.
When Beckett learnt that Rousimoff was having trouble taking his son to school, he offered to drop André off in his truck. Years later, when the Giant was asked about these truck rides he revealed that the two rarely spoke about anything other than cricket.
*Even Arnold Schwarzenegger looks small standing next to Wilt Chamberlain & André The Giant. BTW Arnold is is 6ft 1.5in.
*André the Giant was, quite possibly, ‘The Greatest Drunk of All Time’. Apparently, he drank 7,000 calories worth of alcohol, every day. No big deal.
Here are the numbers. His beer of choice was Molsen Canadian. Each can has approximately 150 calories. This means that the Giant would guzzle a whopping 46.6 cans of beer, every single day.
*André the Giant insisted on paying every restaurant bill, so when Arnold Schwarzenegger quietly paid the cashier before André could, he was obviously displeased. So, Schwarzenegger was physically lifted up and put on top of his own car by André and Wilt Chamberlain.
*This photograph of 19-year-old, Andre the Giant, surrounded by women in towels was taken in 1966 during a fashion exhibition in Paris
At that time, he was already 7 feet and 4 inches!
*André the Giant once drank 119 beers in 6 hours (that’s definitely a record, right?). He passed out in a hotel lobby, where he spent the night. The reason? He was too large to be carried back to his room. You never wake a sleeping Giant, you see
*When André the Giant visited Japan, he would sometimes have to relieve himself in bathtubs, or on newspapers because the toilets were too small for him. #AndréTheGiantProblems
*Have you seen this picture of André the Giant with a very young Dwayne Johnson (The Rock)?
*Following his death in 1993, André was one of the first wrestlers to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame
His signature moves were the Sitdown Splash and the Double Underhook Suplex
*After he was cremated, André The Giant’s remains weighed 17 pounds (nearly 8 kg).
He passed away on January 27, 1993, at the age of 46. The pro-wrestler had succumbed to heart failure. However, he lived well and lived large. To put it in his own words: “I have had good fortune. I am grateful for my life. If I were to die tomorrow, I know I have eaten more good food, drunk more beer and fine wine, had more friends and seen more of the world than most men ever will.“
