Toyota Rush or Avanza ?

Both share the same drive train mcn...that 3sz engine is rediculous one it does 7-9/10 kmpl in town in outstation driving, well its the same figure....pulling power can be compared to a bullock cart ,what a machine !!! but have to admit its bulletproof and reliable....

well 2017 Rush has 2NR-VE. don't know how good that is.

i think first thing you need to consider is whether you need a 7 seater or not ?

both are expensive for me, i would rather go for a CHR or Vezel if i really want a jap

reliable, parts available, only the problem is petrol...but someone who can spend that sort of a money can handle the fuel too.

No idea on latest versions. but if you are looking for 7 seats passenger vehicle try Hiace (KDH), Toyota Voxy or German Mercedes Vito.
