Any idea as to what sort of reforms have been proposed?

The idea of linking Visa renewals with academic progress rather than issuing Visas for a longer period of time actually is an effective and timely decision.

But the problem is, in Sri Lanka, with the local universities being extremely constraining, and no other adequate opportunities to students, what is our flock going to do?

I wonder how that project to start up foreign universities in Sri Lanka is coming up. That indeed is a great opportunity for the Sri Lankans.

The problem with the Pacific countries is the bureaucracy in the Visa process, for example a student wishing to gain entrance to an institution in Aussie or NZ should show funds for tuition in all 2/3/4 years + substantial living expenses for over one year, in addition to its lengthy requirements in a constraining Health Check and Police Clearance.

However, the US seems to be a viable choice, Canada's market position amidst the education standards and competition in the world is yet not strong enough.

What other countries could instead gain in this scenario are perhaps Malaysia, Singapore and China. British and American Universities are now opening up their own campuses in these countries offering education at a fraction of its cost in the home country. Plus, the educational attainment is nothing less than what you would get in an American or British campus, in fact the campus from which a student graduated from is never brought out in any of the transcripts nor certificates. Global Universities are using this to network their students across through channels such as Student Exchange Programmes.

    true ne :oo:

In other countries like Australia you must show funds for the full program of study (1 year or 2 year or 3 year etc.)

UK government may also do the same

English language requirements are for below degree courses

Normally the university or college requires the student to have IELTS etc. for admission & tier 4 sponsorship

Some universities accept GCSE (O/L) english C or higher as equal to IELTS 6

UK is getting more students because they have to show funds for 1 year (fees + living costs)

When the year is over if the student has no more money he/she is in trouble

You don't need a agent, all the information is available online
