yea 3 times...i applied to a institute in new zealand they asked a overall band score of 6.0 with having 5.5 in each band...all the other bands were upto expecatations but i messed up 2 bands called reading and writing which is tougher and very time consuming...so i redid second time i got one band messed up while i got through the other band but still my agent made a appeal to the institute asking for a chance coz its a .5 matter...then they asked me to come there n do a 3 month english course which is very expensive u have to spend extra 600,000 on that...with accomadation and english course fee...then i re did ielts for the 3rd time....with some luck i got through...the academic module is very tough...which is for students the general one is very easy thats for skilled migrants who goes for work ...

anyone can study in NZ without IELTS, if they have above C pass (A,B or C pass) in G.C.E. O/L, its a not big matter. and the advantage is they issue Gradute Job Search visa after one years of studies.
Dont ever go to the agents, be careful if you have to select one. If you're particularly interested in going to the UK, your best and only stop will be the local British Council. I'm telling you, there is no one better than them who could help you, those guys are the best.
There is a reason why the English proficiency requirements to Australia and New Zealand is high, and if you don't have enough then its going to be a tough time getting through your work or even day-to-day activities. Whats the University you applied to in New Zealand?
Its the London GCEs or GCSEs or IGCSEs where if you get a C or more, you are exempted from an additional English proficiency test.

its a one big matter trust me ive gone through with it..and they thoroughly ask ielts very strictly

Its not a University, but a polytechnic. They'll take in students passing out from O/L and above because they dont exactly offer degree programmes or higher. What are you expecting to follow at SIT?
