First of all, I would like to mention that I am not representing any of these Universities or institutions and I accidentally happened to jump into this thread with the information from one of my mates. Since I am closely attached with Microsoft SL, I know the whole incident happened there and therefore I thought of commenting here some stuff that might be useful for all the parties involved.
All you guys took part in a competition which is supposed to select one and only one team, better than the others conceptually, and presentation wise. First you need to understand that you are taking part in a competition where one can make it through, so you are supposed to accept whatever comes as the result. (Since judges have the utmost power). I'll make it into 3 points in short;
First, any one from any Uni or an institution has a right to come and present their presentation in any way they like. Please be gentle enough to respect and accept what they are presenting without hooting like a bunch of foxes. If you do that, that itself shows your professionalism and what the industry can expect from you when you step into there someday. Winning or losing, any person can cheer for the team he prefers, please respect that as well, if you guys want to say you are 'professionals'.
Secondly, make your discussions around a closed place where you can argue and agree or disagree the way you like without publishing them to the whole world. What you have done here shows out your filthy words and attitudes to the outer world and can create a negative image on Microsoft SL. Please think about it. You guys are supposed to represent Sri Lanka one day.
Third, spare some of your time to learn something new, learn some English, polish up your writing, rather than creating FB profiles, groups and threads like these, and loitering around dumping the place with filth and spreading hatred all around.
If that agent did send a message like that, that is wrong - dead straight, no doubt. But please be professional enough to respond and show that you guys are gentlemen. So far I have noticed no posts here from a UOM-IT person that you guys are accusing, which itself apparently proves their gentleness and professionalism.
However, I entirely disagree with the fact that someone who did not get through his ALs, shouldn't be able to study further. What I believe is that it's totally wrong. That has been injected into Sri Lankan minds because the Govt. does not have enough resources to facilitate all the school-passing-outs, therefore had had to follow a tough procedure to filter them. This methods makes it very unfair for a person who is very sound with IT, but couldn't get through ALs' Therefore, if anyone thinking of putting comments regarding ALs, think twice, what if you did fail ALs as well?
Think twice about what you are going to express, and show your professionalism.
Hope things will turn out to be better at some point. Best wishes for the top three who made it after a tough fight....
