if u answered 'yes' --- and u have enuf knowledge abt windows core(services, process management, threads.. etc)
1. go download Process Explorer from www.sysinternals.com ...i dont think that much people know about this site...its acquired by microsoft but the copyright stays with the original developer.

2. download ZoneAlarm 7...www.zonelabs.com

3. [OPTIONAL] download NOD32

In my experience separate programs for each threat is solid...
I use AVG for the Ant-Virus...
Windows Defender for Spywears..
And ZoneAlarm for the firewall..

It saved me from countless attacks.

A good clean windows (difficult to achieve) and a simple firewall with safe browsing habits will keep you free from virus. Max Security Achieved.

PS: No AV needed.
