It detects in all right. Just wont mount it. Reasons can be several. If its a brand new disk, then no partitions so stuff like pmount wont work. Also if there are no mount points defined.
after fixing the new HDD, run fdisk -l to see the available HDDs.
Then if there are formatted partitions, you can create mount points and mount them.

im using CentOs. It's detect it automatically. Try to mont HDD .

see is there a mount point under the fstab (vim /etc/fstab). if is there try with "mount -a"

Please tell me how to configure ADSL modem Prolink H9601 which is commonly distributed by SLT.
I have used both ubuntu and fedora, in the driver CD they have given a folder containing c files to compile the driver(for fedora). but they didnt gave a procedre to do that! actually instructions is a total mess#@!
In Ubuntu they detect the modem in device manager but thats all. how can I input my user name and password? how can i surf easily in linux?
Can you help me to surf on linux platform, because i really love the linux platform more than windows>>>>>
    I prefer Ubuntu O/S more.

Do you have a Configure file in that folder?

Check whether you have a file named "Configure" ,"autogen.sh" or "make" there. If you have them, you can get it compiled by GNU make. Procedure: Go to the command line (the terminal) cd in to the folder where those files are; then type
    su -
    password:
    (enter your password here)
    ./configure && make && make install

if you don not know a password, try
sudo ./configure && make && make install instead

If you can't get it done in this manner, try a tutorial on compiling from source. But this is for intermediate users.
Submit any errors you see on the command line.

    Some help

If it really doesn't detect your HDD, check your cables! (Anyway if you're using version less than Ubuntu 7, Fedora 6, etc...and your HDD is formatted in NTFS you may need to install support for that).

Anyway, to mount the drives you can use mount command. See this article for more help.

I was use Windows 2000 Server DC and Group policies. But now Im using SAMBA as my PDC in CentOS box, Cliants are running with PDC smoothly. But all my clients are still running on Windows 2000 Pro.
    :baffled: :baffled: :baffled:

Anyone know how to apply my old Windows Server Domain Group Policies via SAMBA.

AFAIK, samba doesnt support AD. so what you ask cannot be done.

No. Samba was not made to replace Active Directory.
