hay Thats Cooool, Can you do that,, Nice....Its a grate help, for all of us, please let him know.. (linux hamuduruwoda???) elxzzzzzzzzzz

    Guys visit:
    http://thelinuxcenter.lk/

It was started with the Linux hamaduruwo. You can go visit him at the Narada Center, it's a Buddhist book shop behind BMICH (Narada road). You could also go directly to the Linux Center in Nugegoda, check the contact details on their site for the address.

Also go to http://www.linux.lk/ and join their mailing list. A lot of Colombo University guys and other *nix lovers there. Any questions they would help you out regarding linux. Another thing is if you guys have any school exhibitions, you could get together with these guys and especially the Linux hamaduruwo, his name is Bhikku Mettavihari, and sell Linux distros and even start a linux work shop to help people install linux and administer machines. If you guys are into computing and have some free time, I highly advise doing this sort of thing because you end up learning a lot of things.

This is from the linuxcenter.lk site, they have changed since my time :)

    About us

The Linux Center is something new in the education scene. It was established by a group of Linux enthusiasts to provide the community with GNU/Linux training and Services, as well as provide a local repository for all the major Linux distributions.

All the members of The Linux Center are members of the LUG, the Linux Users Group. We are dedicated to the cause of spreading Linux all over the country, and we take part in all events that are organised by the LUG. We also provide a friendly location for members of the LUG to meet and organise.

Need a Linux based solution? The Linux Center can provide it. Whether it is a simple apache server installation, or a more complex project, we have the expertise to give you what you require. All the work we do has been real-world tested in our offices, and we are constantly improving our knowlege to keep up with improving technologies

Here I found the address for the Narada Center place:

    Narada Center,
    380/9, Sarana Road, Colombo 7
    Colombo 00700
    Tel 689388

    This Hamaduruowo also started http://flash.dharmavahini.tv

I made some sites for him and even an Elakirian made a design for it, but unfortunately it didn't work out. Anyway, hope this stuff helps and if you guys are really interested, you get involved. Have fun! :)

Unfortunately machang, I'm not in Sri Lanka. I've lost contact with most of the people on LKLUG, mainly because when I joined I was just about your age, right after O'Levels. Then I came to the UK for higher studies, been here for the past two years.

Take part in the mailing list and if you would like ask for a meeting for some help or if you have an idea to expand linux around Sri Lanka, like an exhibition in school or something, ask them and I'm sure they will help out.

Believe me when I say it's getting better, I've seen it get better in the very short period of 4 years that I've been using it, one day it will be as easy to use, just a little different.
