I am a music composer/ DJ :), got it ?
I need Shockwave in webpages :) , got it ?

I can write a HUGE list ! but kind of bussy now.

This is why i have simply dumped ubuntu :)

My friend , You have been truly misguided !! USB transfer speed is OS INDEPENDENT !

Ubuntu default (GNOME) GUI is Flashy , But if you just in love with the Look, Don't use GNOME, Have kubunu or install KDE in ubuntu and see then you will say UBUNTU is the best OS for the coming 4000 Years ! he he.

Sorry machang, Doesn't apply to OSs :)

well if u love the look go BERYL!!!!! hahaha the 3d desktop stuff.. man that rocks!
and hey you know why MS wrote everything in vista from the scratch? do you know that vista got a virgin stack ? ;) hehe... its becasue there old code base was so patched and messy! u have to start over after sometime when ur updating software constantly... it gets too patchy... buggy.. and unstructed... so its like a shirt.... in some ways yes... hehe :)

Well i certainly dont want to have PDA operating system in my PC. Well if you want to know the mobile side of Linux. now Motorola is using linux based system for there mobile phones which makes it more faster, reliable and patches and virus free. linux will take the mobile world in no time as it did with the PCs.
Just take a look at this. How linux beats windows mobile.
http://www.linuxdevices.com/articles/AT8728350077.html

If youre talking about the GUI side of Vista. try the Ultimate ubuntu Edition. That thing beats Vista from a 10mile lead. When i installed it on a laptop of one of my friends in the university, the first thing others asked was "hey is this vista?" im not bluffing about this. just take a look at yourself.

Heres the booting Up

lol. you must be kidding me.

machan visual .net is a windows proetery software. and so that means its a product of windows, well if you really really want to run .net in your linux use MONO. its an opensource software.

wow youre a music composer?
well then ive a list of application for you.
download any you need.. ITS FREE OF CHARGE. ;)
http://linux-sound.org/swss.html

infact some good animation films are made using linux for example shrek, finding nemo, dont be disappointed cuz now disney and dreamworks are using linux for their movies. cool right?

hmmm. shockwave? no problem. of course youre planning to use firefox ne? you have that plugin in firefox.lol.

[ i hope you research a bit !!!]
do you have more in you lists. just post it, we'll be happy to reply!!!

machan. usb is os indipendant of course. but its is the OS which takes the maximum performance which supported by the hardware. linux does marvells in harware management!!!

i hope this reply is sufficient for you!!

Yeh its with Ubuntu dapper + kde , with my pendrive :) Ubuntu just Get freezed up to reboot when unmounting the pendrive and later found that its a wellknown bug which has to be solved by reinstalling the new version of KDE. I had to reinstall KDE just to get my pendrive worked.

That is exactly what i mean ! For "most of ppl" (out of very low share of OS usage for ubuntu) ubuntu works :).

but see xp, Its for ALL ! Kids, Casuals, Developers, Artists etc etc.

[even if u want to upgrade from one version of it to a another... its bloody easy in ubuntu.]

That has to be buddy ! bcos they release in 6 months :) he he

[i don't understand how u c that as an problem??? ]

Problem is not that the existence of HUGE help/ Howts/Faq/and Forums and materials for ubuntu. Problem is the CAUSE for the existence:)

well ya u sound like anti ubuntu.. well well... there must be a rezone for you to be what you are :)

u would not have to upgrade KDE. if you was using the latest version of KDE... and as i said erlyer... if u don't want upgrade don't do it!!!! why bother baby??? haha u know if you are using ubuntu 6.06 LTS or something.. u can use it for some number of years to come... they relaese all the updates and stuff,,,

c i use ubuntu.. and i don't have to worry about any updating stuff... i just click yes two times and everything is done automatically for me... its easy... i just don't see your problem with updating yar??? if u like upgrade it to the latest ver or else just stay with what u have :) its that simple. ubuntu will always update it self... so ur system is up to date.

well u think XP is ok for all? ok then tell me why o many people are using linux? well tell me why so many people are developing it? i mean most of them do it for fun! hehe... its because xp has something really really wrong with it.

and everybody that uses XP don't get a chance to really chose what they want.. i mean they are just given xp pre installed. what if they got ubuntu pre installed? ha? they will be pleased with it... not all of em.. but most of em... when u have to migrate from one OS to a another its a lot of work...

thats where you got wrong machan. the internet is no survial of the fittest thing. existance of what? the old? if so we'll see forums on guiding how to install 3.1 also ne?lol
its cuz of the technology is getting improved every day to day. its your choice whether you want to keep in touch with it or not. you have the complete freedom to do so.
yes windows is easy to be used in sri lanka.. WHY? cuz we were using it from the day windows 95 came in to town..lol. its cuz you are farmiliar with the windowos version cuz youve used to the older version of it. ive been using ubuntu for more than 1month now. and i had no problem getting used to..lol

 MONO ? ok friend. If you ask a .net developer to Shift to mono for developing Apps its joke :) mono is cross plat form .Net support. Not for developing Fuylly fledge .Net apps.

Free mixing stuff ? r u kidding bro !! NO UNIX BASED softwares for Professional Djing or Music production ! take my word , search the web for one :) music mixing/ production is not just playing two tracks together.

Eclips : thats the beauty of windows , You can have every app/ide in unix plus a world of windows apps !

Just think the other way around , Put Windows in the place of Ubuntu, imagine Windows is free(But close sourced) and ubuntu is paid(not free or open source). Do u ever think even a stray dog will use ubuntu ? he he.
The whole hype is formed upon FREE Vs PAID ratherthan opensource or closed source or humanity or anything as Ubuntu claims  he he

yes youre right friend, who wants to use .net in linux when you have better frame works like java and "ruby on rails"..lol. i just dont see the point too.lol and we replied cuz you asked you can program .net in linux. well yes you can.
well just think about it .net is built by windows ne? so if there's no windows, will there be any .net? ha ha. but we're talking about opensource.. if ubuntu was not invented, you can use anyother open source distro.lol. and yes, if a ,net dveloper use that in linux, its not nice too ne? cuz he's like double crossing with microsoft..lol

well do you think that dreamworks, disney, sony, ILM are stray dogs too?:D
cuz they all use linux based software for there movies..lol

machan i think you have to google again cuz, you dont how powerful it is to use
JACK audio server, the ZynAddSubFX software synthesiser, and a virtual MIDI keyboard controller in linux, its the easiet and the most powerful thing ever..lol

See, I am Active in music production :) thats why i talke about music production.
WINE is not guaranteed to support every app, and we should be happy with what WINE gives. I tryed to use WINE with FL studio (Which is a PROFESSIONAL MSUCI PRODUCTION APP) and System just didn't response. Later found WINE can only start that app, but can't work in it.

One thing is not clear here, you have said
but if ur are a open source dev u have many many choices! java, ruby, phython, php, perl.... etc its endless! .

what do u mean by saying that ? C#.NET,VB.NET,java, ruby, phython, php, perl are languages , One can use any language to write Open source apps for any OS So my choice was not OPEN SOURCE/CLOSE SOURCE, it was my preference for a language. Still i can write opensource apps in .NET ! You have misunderstood What is opensource and closedsource

    and you further says
ubuntu is good becasue its open source. it will never ever exsit if its not open source.

I don't think so , Ubuntu Popular not because it is OPENSOURCENES :) but because its user friendliness compare to other unix distributions. Ubuntu, according to their website, is “Linux for Human Beings”. Ubuntu, an ancient African word meaning “humanity to others”, is a community designed Linux distribution based on Debian that is designed to be as user-friendly as possible.

hmmm profesional music apps.. well u can have a choice here, but my point is that if u want to do professional music ... stuff in linux or ubuntu you can do it. linux has tools for it. :)

well yar don't u get it??? all those are open platforms, there compilers, interpreters are all open source! thats what i was tring to say :) now when the compilers are open... u can just look into them and have a nice idea of what really happen to your code when u compile them... and there for write better code. so open platforms rocks!.... there are better than .net.. not all of them again... .net might be good in windows... casue its all closed :) but when something is open... you can better utilize it.... unlike closed ones. and thats my point here. i was not talking about your code! hehe.. :) sorry that i was bad at expressing my opinion.. last time :)

no ubuntu is not populer just becasue its easy to use.. it is one of those just work type OSs... thats really really nice about ubuntu... i guess thats the main reason...

and my point is that.. ubuntu won't exsit if there was no open source at the first place! ubuntu was possible becasue of open source.... it goes on and live becasue of open source....

yes, youre right.. its not that youre saying you cant do music composing in linux ne?
its that youre saying that you prefer to work in XP for youre music productions right? well we respect your choice, and i dont know, you dont have to have FL studio to compose your music, but dont say that FL studio is the number 1 choice of all composer and dont say that who would use linux for their music, movie production, cuz a lot of people does!!

and yes ubuntu means the humanity to others. and ubuntu is popular cuz its userfriendly and cuz its open source!!!
lol and we cant argue with that ne? thats obvious.lol

 machan yes.. those are dedicated linux system, they've the most hightech piece of linux system sand software to do there work. that good ne?lol choosing linux as their rendering and developing system? :D . cuz they have to have the most cutting edge and leading technologies which can do their work faster. and reliable.

hey and if youre a local composer, you can do the same with ubuntu as well or with all of other distros available which supports it, i didnt tell you to use ubuntu ne?lol. we saying what you want is possible and easy and not as hard or impossible as you think.:D
