It does not damage the image of poor people. That is the true picture of people living in Mutwal, Peliyagoda, Thotalaga (on the banks or River Kelani) Go and check it out bro

If they didn't show the suffering of the people, there won't create a preamble for the story.

That suffering is the bit which justifies the actions taken by them. So the audience will realise, even though they did an illegal thing, it is their last resort.

Don't worry, they didn't show all the prostitution, child trafficking, garbage scavenging etc.

I got a mixed feeling of pride and sadness while watching it. Proud because Sri Lankan still live with a smile even in the hardest situation. Sad because there is a 'class' depicted in the movie, in our own society and we can't do anything about it....

Movie is a shot on their heads for the German immigration authorities.
1. It shows their brutality - by rejecting visas.
2. It shows their foolishness - by granting the visas finally

Secondly...this is a small fraction of Sri Lankan life ( Mudukku ) you see...confined to large cities like colombo..for better money and benefits..so this does not reflect the society in whole as you say....

Ok i have to admire the vision of roshnt, we need more people like you to upheld the dignity of this nation.

also i really like the fighting nature of X-p

But seems he like he does not try to read the and understand the full gravity of an article.He likes to see what he wants.

Though the people are not stupid that does not mean they can not be influenced.you talk about int media.well thats one way you can influence people.If you think the Int media is not bias, then you got a long way to go.

For any nation the dignity is a most importent fact and after so many years of letting down of our own finally we are in an era where we are rebuilding it ( by regaining control over the country,as a first step )

there for we can not afford a slightest mistake that would damage that effect. Thats why we have to look in to the massege that Machan gives to the world, as well to our own nation.

This is a time where lots of media campagnes were launched against our nation mainly by the brutal LTTE and their wingmen. If you have seen the critic about Machan on Al Jazeera, how the nation has been shamed in front of int community due to this film you would not raise a single voice to safe guard the interest of this film.

After all I really agree on RT on "washing our dirty laundry in public".The greatest artists were not born because they insulted their nation and country but because what they did for devolopment and upheld of the dignity of their countries.

Therefor pls dont try to safeguard the interests of people who insult your mother land. ( If you were a sri lankan by birth at least ). Because " Ballo ekka nidagaththama makko ekka nagitinna wenawa"

even though its a tru stry....i jst want to know wat happen to the real characters...??are they still livin ..... wat happen to them after they escaped...n did they ever made their way bak to SL hm...............
basicly it show the real image which is out of the box/bubble.... nt like other movies which r in side a bubble....with some unrealistic crap.........After all its a good movie!!!!!!!!

I don't know if ur a real movie lover.
You know the Viatnam war right?.
Did USA ever say they lost the Vietnam war?
USA say they did a humanitarian campaign in Viatnam.

Find the movie "Casualties of War"( -Starring Sean Penn) one of the greatest movies of all time.(True Story)
But it did not even exist in 1988-1987 Academy award nomination list.

Why?
Because it shows Vietnam girls are raped by American soldiers ,even the girl suffering from high fever.

So US never admired the great movie.
In fact they refrain from mentioning it.
This is not the, first movie to had such a reception from US.
Check the 1957 classic "Path of Glory".

But US has produced many great movies and those are admired allover the world.

So I don't blame countries for hiding their "DIRT".

Here the problem is Machan exposes Sri Lanken "Dirt" not in true way but in exaggerated manner.

Some SL directors also have gain their int. popularity by doing the same so called method-"Exposing the Sri Lanken DIRT"

“Machan” is a good movie although is not an all-time great. It’s has all the elements to be a good movie. The story, the script, the direction, the talent and the skill of some young Sri Lankan actors blend together to makes this movie success.
As a comedy, it’s humored some people and their behavior in a classical style and in some points it’s done that in an extravagant manner which is very common in these kind classical comedies.
Although movie based on true Sri Lankan story, I think this is universal to all the youths in developing countries.
Some one can say this is expose dark side of Sri Lankan urban sub society of poor people who lives in slums, but I think their true life style can be worse than film expressed.
And I also heard some people are saying that this film is terribly harmed the image of Sri Lanka and its people. But I don’t think so. I think in otherwise.
Because in the movie there are some remarkable patriotic events, one is that Manoj refuse to leave the country and another one is that celebration of the team after they scored their maiden goal.
Finally I want to say that this movie dose not harm the image of Sri Lanka but it’s humored the people who trying to harm the image of Sri Lanka whose leave the country for dollars and doing slavery for “white men”.

I think this movie isn't targeting Sri Lankan audience.. Looks like it's made for European audience.. Truth is from their point of view they don't want to see happy and rich Sri Lankans.. because their boring..I mean who want to watch a movie made out regular Sri Lankan life? First 75% of this movie shows how poor people in Sri Lanka struggling to live... So if they didn't show that their is no movie..
