Why don't you support other artisis like Diwulgane, Kryshantha Erandaka, Saman Jayanath etc. They are also very good vocalists and they are young also (Except diwulgane who is 40)

Machang ! wal bada those artist much more popular than kasun kalhara,they sings at public concerts(open air shows) so they popular, but kasun kalhara isn't.nobody knows kasun kalhara.
i think all the sri lankans should listen to kasun's songs. Kasun kalhara's voice is the only voice that can listen without music.

My goodness! even lamp posts of Colombo knows his voice!!!!! People like me and you are familiar with what Rock and Metal music are and we are not that surprised when Kasun uses them in his songs (Radical Premaya album), but may be little un-digestable for outstation people. But "Heenayaki mata aadare", "Mal mitak thiyanna" songs , is popular in whole country (probably because of conventional touch in them) and the whole country knows who is Kasun Kalhara. I work in out station and I can hear his songs being put on the three-wheelers in Agalawatta and Bulatsinhala area. SO he is quite popular.

If u think I have loss of memory, pl.check with Amaradeva himself or

with someone more knowledgable in the music field, who sang the original

song. Sure I am older than u & also know better than u about old sinhala

songs. The present generation only hear the duplicates & remixes of old

songs & do not know who sang the original #s. I dont blame u for your

lack of knowledge.

I heard recently that a young girl came to sing a Latha Walpola # @ a musical

show without even knowing who sang the original. When Latha herself sang

the same # before her, she had gone up to her & said " mama kiyanna aapu

sinduwane aunty sing keruve " Latha being such a senior & gracious lady

did not snub the girl.

Do u think that Latha being over 70 yrs.old had lost her memory. I feel really

sorry for the ignorence of the young lot. After all it is said that gnorence is bliss !

from your comment i understand that kasun is popular little bit but he isn't popular like BnS,Iraj, Centigradz( those people doesn't even go near kasun's talent ,they don't hav any music knowladge compared to kasun kalhara)

Abiut WD Amaradeva, I think you have heard him when he is old. this guy is 75 now, and the songs I post here are sung when he ws around 45. Imagine his control when he was 30!

I don't know machng about santhush.but most of the people says that bathiya is one who pulls BnS , i don't know (i don't listen to those guys songs cuz there copycats, and they are not talent enough).
So ME is responsiple for everything,i can honestly be happy about kasun cuz he don't do these kind of stuff. thanks machang...

Yeah, Bathiya is 31. Santhush won the prize for best English singer interschool competition twice and once came 7th or 8th in Sinhala singing competition as well.

You'll ask what happened to the top people. That represents the tragedy of Sinhala Music

1st place - a guy called Supun Walpola, passed Visharada degree at 16 (youngest to do so), won the title thrice - Did Physical Science and now in US. A real maestro, but does not sing any more

2nd place - Asthika Devendra, a lawyer, now only appears in courts. No singing for him up to now.

3rd place - Ileesha, got his kidneys messed up and needed kidney transplant. Now in UK and will die of infection if he comes here to SL. No more singing for him as well.

Well they are not that quality because they are old. and the frequency distribution is from 120Hz-8kHz range. So don't expect Hi-Fi sound quality off these tracks. But these represent the original work of the atrists which bare a historical importance
