    Sandun gase saman welak song

I have heard the sandun gase saman walak song and it was sung by Master Amaradeva and a female singer( can't remember the name)

Ane paw! to be confused. To get out of your confusion why dont u visit

    " Infolanka Miyrugee Library "

    click artist

    go to letter M

    find Milton Perera

    go to song # 117 &

listen to the beauty of the original song. Milton's voice is awesome, full of feeling.

No one else can match it, in my humble opinion not even the Master !

Even I have sung " sandun gase saman welak " ( in my bath ) Surely that does

not give me any ownership to the song ?

Master Amaradeva & several media people made a big ha ho when

W.D. Ariyasinghe sang the master's songs. Then why on earth is he doing

the same thing singing Milton Perera's songs ? ( but I have never heard it )

For the information of the confused, the female voice belongs to Mallika

    Kahavita ( nee Perera )

We do not like it when the immortal vocalists who are no more with us

are humiliated in this manner. Milton Perera must be turning in his grave!

Milton Perera, thank u for the lovely memorable songs u gave us. May your

    soul rest in peace !

1st you have to know who owns the songs. It's the lyricist and composer who owns the song. The songs that WD Ariyasinghe sang were owned by Master Khemadasa, which was morally wrong because he earned money out of that.

WD Amaradeva is the composer of Sandun Gase song and he owns it. And he never sang it for commercial purposes. And this song is on a cassete which is out for ornamental purposes.

You go to the Infolanka site, find letter A and click on Amaradewa WD, and find the song or just follow the hotlink in my earlier post.

    Hi

Thanks for the information. Today for the 1st time I heard Amaradeva sing

this song, but I have no hesitation in saying that the duplicate is nowhere near

the romance of the original sung by Milton Perera. The medium through which

a song comes to the listner is the voice of the vocalist . We always associate

a song with the singer, & not with the lyricist or the composer. We never

associate a song with someone who sings it the 2nd time even though he may

be the composer of music, and did not sing it for commercial gain. Master

Amaradeva himself would have fallen in love with the original song for its sheer

beauty for which the credit is due to Milton Perera.

Going by your logic that the composer & lyricist are the owners of a song,

I dread to think of the day Sunil Ariyaratne & master Kemadasa break into

song for ornamental purposes. I for one will never listen to them !

Many a lovely melody sung by Victor Ratnayake was composed by Mervyn

Perera ( unknown to many ) but he has never done this ornamental thing !

With all due respect to master Amaradeva, although I never liked his voice.

100% agree with you machan.........And you forgot one man...H.R. Jothipala.....Even amaradewa cant match him...when ravishanker came to sri lanka to classify the singers in SLBC, Jothipala is the one he selected as no 1.

Jothipala had a great voice..... when famous Indian singer Mohd. Rafi came to Sri Lanka and heard Jothipala, he said that Sri Lanka was too small for a singer like Jothipala !!!!!!!!!

When i looking in Lyrics I think "Sangawa Ganu M(h)ana Obe Ruwa Sonduriye" Write by Premakeerthida Alwis As i remember.

When i looking in Voice And Music no doubt Kasun Kalhara Is The Best.

When I looking in All round(Lyrics, Voice, Melody And Music) Clarence Wijewardana Is The Best.
