What is the minimum age to purchase alcohol?

I will be turning 18 in February and I want to know whether 18 is the legal alcohol purchasing age. According to Wikipedia, its 21 in Sri Lanka, but everybody tells me its 18. Don't worry, I've drunk plenty of times before, so you're not sinning by answering my question.
