Frankly I am so sad by your question.Cant have cool n quiet up to those clocks.I usually have it max at 2500MHz.Beyond that is virtually impossible.But at default 2000MHz I always have power save options on.(portable/laptop scheme)

Maybe people are overclocking and using EIST and then crashing their PCs because there isn't enough voltage to run at the "new" idle clock speeds.

I have disabled EIST...but haven't really tried it ON with the overclock...Have to check that tomorrow...

There is no other issue with EIST afaik..I've been using it for about 10 months with the Intel board...

I use speed step... It's really efficient in saving the battery life in my lap! (Stock, not oc)
