Who needs to know about Skilled Migration in Australia

Hello Guys, I was studying in Australia for 3 years and came to Sri Lanka on a vacation. I did my first Degree on Computer Systems in Australia as well as received my ACS skills assessment certification as a Computer Network & Systems Engineer. I have applied for my PR and awaiting decision.

If you guys need to know anything about visa categories and skilled migration process, feel free to drop a message on this wall. I will reply to you according to my best knowledge.

How long did you work to get your ACS skills assessment?

How's the job situ for computer engineers / software engineers over there?

Any tips for people migrating in the near future about how to secure jobs? Quite a few people at my workplace are migrating.

No matter, how many you have but you will be given only 15 points unless a you study for a doctorate. It happens because an applicant is assessed against a specific job category and need to have that particular qualification. Another degree means another job category. So it will have a conflict unless otherwise

You could still get 15 points machan. If you have work experience, you will be able to get a maximum of 20 points.

Doctorate from an Australian educational institution or
other Doctorate of a recognised standard

educational institution or other degree of a recognised

Once you finish your degree in IT, you will be assessed as accordingly. ACS gives an assessment for a valid and relevant degree. You do not need to have experience for that. The demand for network & systems engineers is higher than it was a few years back. Try to apply for a visa from your qualifications and experience. The only tip I can give someone is, the immigration scheme is pretty much open to everyone as long as they satisfy the requirements of getting a valid visa. There are no alternatives.

But you still have a chance to get your degree assessed under general skills assessment if you want to have a pre-acknowledgement before proceeding further.

IELTS score is just a part of the requirements you should have when applying for a visa. Other than that you must have a degree or above with industry experience in your field.

machang can you give some details about the CSOL.....after studying in australia...lets say we got the post study work stream visa for 2 years and during that period lets say we got a course related job with a job offer from a australian employer....what are our chances of getting pr through the CSOL....Nominating a occupation from the list 2........if our occupation is not in the SOL....

CSOL is considered when you get a state or employer nominated sponsorship. It essentially contains more job categories than the SOL as most of the vacancies / slots appear in regional Australia . Most of the applicants considered through CSOL will be given visa leading to PR, depending on a separate scheme slightly different from the general skilled migration points system but the basic rules are pretty much the same.
