its always been a UNP stronghold... people didnt vote for UNP because of ranil.. they voted to UNP because of SB. Even though im a SLFP supporter i respect SB for his personality and prowess.. along with Sajith Premadasa. If UNP has a future Ranil has to step down and let one of those two take the wheel

You are partly right... I am not saying anything against Ranil, but I see a clear stand that SB has, and this time there were some other competitors who catered many different groups of the Kandy populations, for example, there was one candidate who got the VIP people votes, another candidate who was with the lower income muslim population...
I will not mention names as such, but likewise UNP had a good stand in Kandy...

Unlike SLFP, where some highly unpopular, unfavorable, thug level uneducated and violent candidates were running in Kandy, these are not the kind of people whome andy respects...

I have prime examples, but I wish not to disclose due to the degree of personal insults and closeness in them...

Who are the lost sheep?
Why did he seek for the lost sheep?
How did the sheep get back?
Did Jesus simply lead them back?
How much effort did the sheep have to make to return to the flock?

Since you are just a supporter you can celebrate... But for Mahinda Kandy is more important than all the others for he lost only that (so far.. I don't know Puttalam yet.. may have lost... that may be the reason they keep till the kick is gone)

They are more like children, Non violent and peace loving.

That means other Sinhalese have become more arrogant and violent lately. So war can win their hearts and votes.

Yes I partly agree with you, but dislike the simile you used saying Kandyans are more like children...

Yes, the army is having a successful forefront in the North...and the united wish of every Srilankan is to end this war in a satisafactory manner...

But as you say some sinhalese people have taken this too much into their heads, and see the only availble strenght of SLFP as conducting the war...they have been kind of tricked into believing in such a situation...

But Kandyans (many) think in more aspects...

This was a Provincial election, winning the war and its strategies are not quite directly applicable to these local govt. authorities...people with the abilities to control these area well such as maintaining cleanliness and handling citizens atters such as water works etc. play a key role in Provincial elections...

This is where UNP has its plus points...I should say that Kandyans are far more intellectual in that case...thats why UNP got Kandy...and another thing was the candidates for SLFP from andy were not the kind that one would call as Humans or Leaders...

then what abt ur SB dissanayake.If u say Kandy is more important place to mahinda,what abt Haguranketha to SB dissanayake.Then what happened to him.SB said that he would win the whole central province.Bt unfoetunatly he couldnt even protect his home town which was a UNP stronghold.Many of people understand the truth.Nw they r nt with their narrow political views.Bt i dont know what happened to kandy.I think still they r thinking with their green heart , Not from brain
