Then why are there so many virus guards for Linux?
Many ppl use windows than Linux. So there are so many viruses has been created for windows. But these day, Linux is getting more popular, so there may be too many upcoming viruses for Linux.

Simple, so that you can protect the windows machines in the network. Mail or file server running on linux can easily host a virus file without infecting the linux machine but as soon as the file is picked up by a windows machine, it'll get infected.
So to clean those, there are virus guards for linux as well.

there's maybe less than 20 viruses for linux (well for sco unix actually). For all of which the kernel has already been patched. So no effective viruses exists.
