what abt ur experiences?
I was a huge fan of Harry Potter. I have read all the HP books cover to cover. Also I watched every episode of Charmed. I have a poster of the charmed ones in my bed room. There was a time I wished that I was in an episode of Charmed.

But I figured out that everything they show on Harry Potter and Charmed are just fiction and not actually possible. But still I like that stuff for the sake of its literature.

That interest on magical fantasy Hollywood stuff actually made me research on witchcraft. I could find lots of things through the internet. Later I realized that my original interest which made me explore in to these stuff is not the genuine way.

So I realized that actually there exists an ancient lore of witchcraft underground in secrecy that is much different from what the Hollywood shows us.

I searched on the internet and met people, spent a lot of time with them and personally discussed with them to learn more. Many of them recommended good books. Witchcraft needs lots of reading and practicing. Initially I was interested on divination and healing. Those are the most constructive and beneficial branched of witchcraft.

And it took some long time to find out much more about Wicca. In the beginning my interest was on Witchcraft. But later I saw this beautiful correlation between Wicca and Witchcraft. So I also started learning about Wicca.

Now I’m seeking more sources to learn from. The biggest problem I have is to find books because there are no bookstores in Sri Lanka where they sell books on witchcraft and Wicca.

Yes, OK... Your question gave me a new idea. We should write a section about rituals on our blog...

The objectives of a Wiccan ritual are to connect with the forces of nature and work magick and spell-craft.

The first part of a Wiccan ritual is to consecrate the space. To do that we cast a circle. This is done with the Ritual dagger (Atheme) or Wand. A circle may be drawn on ground with chalk and then the tool is taken around the circle to consecrate the circumference.

After that we light candles for the four directions and call the spirits of the elements, or the four directions. The four candles are lit for the guardian angles of four directions and four elements.

Then we may summon the Goddess Diana and God Cernunnos. After that, cake and wine (or juice) may be consecrated and partaken by each member.

The celebration of the season or Full moon comes to next. Wiccan celebrations goes according to the cycles of nature. There are two types of rituals according to their significance. First one is the cycles of moon. Moon goddess is celebrated on Full-Moon days. There are thirteen full moons for one year. The other kind of celebrations are the seasons caused by the Sun. There are eight seasons for the year according to Wicca.

There are specific rituals like Maypole-Dance (May eve), Flying-Broomsticks (Harvest season) that goes according to each season.

The spell work, healing, divination etc. comes after that. In a coven setting all the people gather in a circle to combine their powers for one goal at a time, helping the works of each other in turns.

When the most important parts of the ritual are completed, the fun begins. There are many games that can be played in a coven setting. Candle passing, Maypole dance, Whisper game, Spiral dance are some games among them.

Finally the circle is closed and the spirits are thanked for their presence and the ritual is finished. coven members kisses each other and depart.
"May the circle be open!, but unbroken!,
May the peace of the goddess be ever in your hearts!...
Merry meet, and marry part, and merry meet again!"

This is the generic flow of a Wiccan ritual of a coven that I dream to be a part of! The ritual of a solitary practitioner is different from this.

i quite get it i mean wicca itself is very close to nature and all and i also belive in nature around us containing amazing things related to living beings and all but don't you think these all ritual things you people do is like being a lil bit of nature nazi (sorry didnt have a better term)...and here in sri lanka do you have a cult or something following the same beliefs where you can perform those rituals?

Wicca involves celebrating the cycles of nature to get in tune with the natural forces around us. Eventually the ancient ones have given god forms to those (Feminine & Masculine) forces of nature.

Could you please explain more on why you think it that way. It is ok... :)

We call it "Coven". The word "Cult" is also used in some old books, but that word now has a negative stereotype attached to it.

Still there are very few of us (as I know). There may be many, but we have to find and get to know know each other. Still I was not a part of such a group, and seeking such one.

ok i as i see it ancient ppl that had no facilities in figuring out the forces of nature which now we call science have given em forms of gods its more likely metophorical right?

and what cycles in nature do you ppl believe in im realy curiuos and im not trying to prove you ppl wrong or anything i just would love to know..

what made you believe in those things you are believing in in the first place was it like you suddenly had visions that would explain things in the nature to you that not most of others would notice? or was it like you read about these stuff and you got interested like "ya thats what this has been for al these time from the begining"

OK, the science have given scientific explanations to many phenomena around us. But still the Sun is the primal life force of the earth. Sun makes the seasons and makes the pattern of life on earth. Did you notice what kind of disasters it happens when the seasons changing is altered by global warming. Can science reverse El Niño?

The moon makes ocean tides. It is mysteriously connected to human body and mind (There are lots of things between moon and human mind that science can't explain). Moon cycles have a special significance to woman's body (cycles) and health.

It is about "celebration". The seasons and Full-moons.

My interest kindled after reading some books and web sites. It grew as I could experience the powers within me...

ok i know science can't explain everything but it couldnt explains many things back in days which now can and in the future don't you think science could figure a way out to give explanations to those phenomenas around us

and isnt it the gravity of the sun and moon cause such effects as they change into different positions on completion of their(including earth) orbits..
and how come they don't consider the center of the galexy as the life force of things as it is gathered with more power than sun

and tv serieses best selling books? don't you think your interests have biased your way of thinking to believe in such things..

and as to wicca what is the purpose of human beings in their lives ..is there a greater truth or higher consciousness to reveal or something or where would be the end ..whered you expect to get with these and finaly can you let me have some of those ebooks lol I'm realy interested

Science is Science. Wicca is a religion... I don't think comparing a religion with science will give any meaningful answers. lol...

In this whole galaxy, earth is the only place we can live. Living Earth is a holy place. We live on earth because of the balance of life forces on earth. That balance is maintained by Sun and Moon. Beliefs of Wicca cannot be explained in terms of science. :)

Actually those literature made me explore in to these areas. But that is no more the reason for me to follow the path. I have changed since those days (grown up!). But I still like those books and TV series.

lol for a minute would you consider science as a way to understand the world around us instead of an over-rated way of over analysing

and as much as earth is influenced by the sun it is also influenced by other planets of our solar system. gravitys of those planets do effect the behaviour of the planet earth and who knows may be sun is altered by the higher powers of galaxy too like as it moves to different positions

and by the time human kind reign the earth it must have been evovled to some certain environmental facts like heat level oxygen percentage and all .
and before like millions of years when no human walked the earth it must have been pretty different from what is it now too where no creature in present days would survive in

evolving is a process that all nature and universe bow to so i think at one stage of it earth would again become poisn to human kind simply kicking the holyness off the earth may be human would alter according to those changes too

but human kind is only a part of the life of our planet earth we will extinct..

    that aside

" Basically, to live the life to the fullest." by this do you mean like live your life let others live too..actually do you need a religion to figure that out i mean any grown up with normal consciousness knows that fact
