For Computer Science & Engineering and Electronic & Telecommunication Engineering Fresh graduates

    MIT (Software Engineer) - 65000/-

    Virtusa (Software Engineer) - 60000/- to 75000/-

    Cambio (Software Engineer) - 70000/-

WSO2 (Software Engineer) - 70000/- (the batch top from the CSE in this year is getting 95000/-)

    Codegen (Software Engineer) - 70000/- to 80000/-

Brandix (ERP Consultant) - 55000/- (SLIIT and UCSC people as Developers same salary)

Creative Solutions (Software Engineer) - 65000/- to 70000/-
    IFS (Software Engineer) - 50000/-

For MIT and WSO2 the degree you have got does not mean much but they need good project works like GSOC. And they do not test your coding ability but the problem solving ability. No experience required.

The virtusa is not a good company to work because they discriminate you based on your degree and GPA. (i.e SLIIT and UCSC people they are hiring as Associate Software Engineers and salary is 35000/-)

If you think of your freedom rather than salary then IFS is a better choice because they never keep u after 5.00pm for any reason....

If u are competent the educational qualifications do not matter much in IT field and above are the salaries u are going to get as a fresh graduate passing out from the uni.....

    Thanks for the info!! :)

As I said earlier if you have good project works you do not have to worry about the degree, diploma or certificate u have....

The problem with the diplomas and other courses in SL is that they do not have acceptable amount of project works in their curriculum. So while u are doing your course better to do some additional projects. It does not matter you took them from a Freelancing website, what u need is some significant projects to put in your CV and good knowledge to speak in the interview. And ha they give good considerations for International competition winners like IEEE Extreme....

Any person who is not following a IT course in a government uni should give a thought to what I just said. Unless u won't get any salary beyond 25000/-. Believe me because I have been to most of those companies for interviews and I know what they look for...

Codegen, Cambio and Creative Solutions they all work with JAVA
    MIT works in C++
    Virtusa works with dotNET, Java
WSO2 does cloud computing so you should have a sound knowledge in Software Architecture and Algorithms.

you decide what suits best for u.....

rep+ .. WSO2 -> Java EE (their main language agreement with apache)

Machang, thanks for the info. My question is, people who're following external degrees such as BIT (UCSC), BIT (UoM) don't get chance for "Google Summer of Code" likewise so... Are there a difference IT companies have recognized between government university IT/ CS students, private (and semi government) university students (SLIIT, IIT, NIBM) and external degree holders (BIT)?
