    It's කියන එකෙන් කියන්නේ එහෙම තත්වයක් තියෙනවා කියල. තවත් විදිහකට කියනවනම්It's කියන ටිකේ තේරුමක් නෑ. ඒකේ තියෙන්නේ grammatical meaning එකක් විතරයි.

    It's cold today කියන්නේ අද හීතලයි කියල. එහෙම නැතුව ඒක හීතලයි අද කියල නෙවෙයි.

    It's dangerous to go there. කියන්නේ එහෙ යන එක භයානකයි කියල. එහෙම නැතුව ඒක එහෙ යන එ භයානකයි කියල නෙවෙයි.

    It's good to drink tea. තේ බොන එක හොඳයි.
It's good to go there. එහෙ යන එක හොඳයි.

It's good to read newspapers everyday
It's foolish to talk to him now

I think they are great. :P some poems have such imagination that they are like great paintings. say a million things.
I understand..and I agree...I did not say they are not great...I simply said sometimes I am having difficulty understanding them...:)

    මේ දෙක පාවිච්චි කරන විදිහ වෙනස්. ඒ කියන්නේ grammar වල යොදන ආකාරය.

There is often confusion over 'maybe' and 'may be'. Maybe

Maybe (one word) can be substituted with 'perhaps' or 'possibly'. ('Maybe' is an adverb.) Try substituting the 'maybe' in these examples with 'perhaps':

    bullet_1.gif
Maybe this world is another planet's hell.
    bultick.gif
    (Aldous Huxley)

    bullet_1.gif
Courage is saying, "Maybe what I'm doing isn't working; maybe I should try something
    else."
    bultick.gif
    (Anna Lappe)

    bullet_1.gif
Maybe you have to know darkness before you can appreciate the light.
    bultick.gif
    (Madeleine L'engle)

    bullet_1.gif
There are a lot of people who can't write and maybe shouldn't write.
    bultick.gif
    (Sarah Hepola)

    May Be

May be (two words) is similar to 'might be', 'could be' or 'would be'. (The word 'may' in 'may be' is an auxiliary verb.)

    Examples:

    bullet_1.gif
Conscience is the inner voice that warns us somebody may be looking.
    bultick.gif
    (H. L. Mencken)

    bullet_1.gif
If two men agree on everything, you may be sure that one of them is doing the thinking.
    bultick.gif
    (Lyndon B. Johnson)

    bullet_1.gif
The ability to delude yourself may be an important survival tool.
    bultick.gif
    (Jane Wagner)

probably you ain't reading them as many times as it takes :P
we should probably take this conversation elsewhere before adult junior nazi up.
You are correct 100%...most of time I am simply skimming over them...:P
But, there are (although few) poems that I understand and enjoy..
    One of them is, Shakespeare's,

This royal throne of kings, this sceptered isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
    This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea
Which serves it in the office of a wall,
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands,
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England

to quote Shakespeare in another place,

"4. I have of late,—but wherefore I know not,—lost all my mirth, forgone all custom of exercises; and indeed, it goes so heavily with my disposition that this goodly frame, the earth, seems to me a sterile promontory; this most excellent canopy, the air, look you, this brave o’erhanging firmament, this majestical roof fretted with golden fire,—why, it appears no other thing to me than a foul and pestilent congregation of vapours. What a piece of work is man! How noble in reason! how infinite in faculties! in form and moving, how express and admirable! in action how like an angel! in apprehension, how like a god! the beauty of the world! the paragon of animals! And yet, to me, what is this quintessence of dust?"

 judging from the contradictions at hand, I might say the guy was probably bipolar.

sorry, won't post off topic anymore on this thread.

Not that I loved poetry less, but that I want this thread for English Language more
