As I see The Main reason here is the age of the people who use internet.. its like in 2006 the the majority who had access to internet and use EK was above 18. Very few below 18 used EK so they didnt have a say. But now children of 12 also use internet and EK. So the minset and the attitudes of these differrent age groups have been the main problem for the seniors to leave EK. The little ones are not matured enough to think analytically and response postively to settlel things and their "sigithi Aathal" are not acceppet by the elders which results in this dissatisfaction and separation

in my opinion, wide availability of the internet access is a major reason for the EK downfall but not the only reason. if u can remember in 2009 there was a lot of political gibberish here cuz of the elections after the war. that attracted some outsiders who had hidden motives such as political party affiliations and religious affiliations, who made this place a devil's workshop. i observed that most of those old respectable members left at that time as the admin did not listen to their request to move those gibberish political threads from the popular "elakiri talk" section to their own category. some say the admin didn't do that for marketing purpose but now you see that not doing so only destroyed this place entirely.

if you look at any good international forum you will see that there's always an unwritten but rigid rule of not mixing politics and religions within the main forum as politics and religions have killed more people in this world than anything else.

that rule was not followed in elakiri, so now even the porn section in the exbii.com is better run than this .

I agree with this this 50% It is true that EK standards has had a huge downfall recently.... Its true that the early days in Elakiri was very much fun and meaningful and there was no other place like here. i mean even sometimes it was more happening thab FB and Hi5 as per thase days.. There were members from every part of the country and the majority of the members were not knowing each other.. they got to know each other through EK and they were very supportive to each other and had had good respect for each other. The Threads posted here was very useful ones and everybody contributed. THis was a place for education in one hand. There was fights and there were done and settled in a decent and matured manner. But from like a couple of years back the Old EK members have given up EK and a very few are remaining. Its really sad about the drastic downfall of EK and to see cheap crap being posted in EK very often and the sadest part is that those shit get bumped and stay on top while the good threads go unread. Even if some guy farts there will be thread opened for it immedietly even before the smell of the fart goes away. I dont say all the guys and girls who have joined EK recently are useless but I have noticed that there are a set of "KIDS" who post these threads and keep them live and kicking. I have no offeces against those unmatured little ones instead only have sympathy about them and their parents. So for those ideots, i simply have to say.. "Grow up and get a life!!' U cant pee straight in to the pot hole at your first attempt.. everybody would spill some drops of pee aroud the pot but keep trying one day you will have the aim to pee straight in to the pot without spilling it all over...

Being a member since 2006 These are my personel POV and Its not biased to Old members or Nu members. There would be replies to this comment scolding me using harsh language and minus reps etc well proving the fact who are the above mentioned immatured illiterates in EK who needs to grow up and be more wiser

I don't think the OP is there anymore to answer you but don't you think now it is beyond the point that neither a single member nor even the admin can resurrect the glory days of this forum? so whether someone should come in the real id as a "hero" and get smashed left and right and lose those hard earned reps, is irrelevant here. think about it. if u look around, there are some of those "මුඩුක්කු" members who only joined a couple of months ago and only preach non stop religious discrimination, actually have more rep boxes than you and me combined they are "glorious beacons of light" when we are just "spectacular auras" and if you scroll to the earliest pages of this forum you will see that almost all of those good old members are dormant now

so in my own faith I can only pray that those golden days would return to this forum hopefully when the anti discrimination law is restored as a whole in Sri Lanka one fine day.

I am not leaving Elakiri. I have my opinion and I am not afraid to say it. What use are the reps one has if they are leaving the forum? Of course I can see what you are trying to say - nobody likes to tarnish their good name - but it needs to be understood that people in EK don't take the things fake profiles say seriously.

Agree with the fact that මුඩුක්කු members rack up an unbelievable amount of rep points in a very short time, and that it is sad. I've also seen many good members leave the forum, and have been shocked and saddened at the farewell they got from the other members. In the early days it was "පිස්සු නැතුව හිටපං බං". Now it is "ඉතින් යනවනම් කිය කිය ඉන්නෙ පලකො". Not exactly brotherly.

Also I think what many people got wrong here was equating 'English speaking' with well-mannered and respectful. I for one don't give a damn about the language anyone uses on the forum, though it is very annoying where everywhere you look the threads are about Sinhala Buddhist supremacy and religious intolerance. When you use the term 'English-speaking' it alienates people and they will not listen to anything else you may have to say. I for one just want people to stop abusing each other with filth in the forum and insulting each others religions. Intelligent debate is OK, posting caricatures of Prophet Mohammed and depicting all Muslims as pigs is so not.

And I don't agree that the admin can't put a stop to these things. Of course he can, this is just his marketing strategy to get more visitors. It is his site and we have to live by his rules, prior experience suggests that he doesn't give a s*it about members' opinions (I half expect this thread to get deleted as well), so it's best not to make EK a part of your life and just use it for casual entertainment.
