Bale 'accuses' Spurs of blocking Madrid move

    1000x69045.jpg

Gareth Bale has accused Tottenham of breaking a promise to let him join Real Madrid, according to reports from Spain.

Marca, which has close ties to Madrid, claim that Bale was told by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy that he could leave White Hart Lane if the club failed to qualify for the Champions League and a significant bid came in.Madrid are believed to have made an opening bid of £52 million for Bale with Tottenham yet to respond. Manchester United are also said to be in the hunt for the Welshman but Bale is said to have his heart set on the Spanish capital.

Marca report that Bale met Levy for showdown talks last Wednesday in London, telling him: "You made me a promise. You promised me if we didn't qualify for the Champions League and a good offer turned up you'd listen to it.
"Well that offer has arrived and I want to play for Real Madrid. So keep your word and negotiate."I'm not interested in Manchester United or any other club. I only want to play for Real Madrid." Meanwhile fellow Spanish paper AS are reporting that Levy is willing to let Bale leave Spurs - but only for bids in excess of £100m.

Henry wants to SELL Liverpool for £350m... just three years after taking over at Anfield :shocked:

Just three years since being bought by American billionaire John Henry and the Fenway Sports Group, Liverpool are being put up for sale again.
The club is available at £350million with FSG said to be disillusioned with ownership, as the club have not progressed in three years despite huge investment.
According to a report in The Sun, Liverpool are 'unofficially' on the market with three parties, one Saudi oil company and two American billionaires, interested in a purchase.

    article-0-194F3AE7000005DC-105_634x377.jpg

After spending £300m themselves to take over control of the club, FSG have spent a further £187m on players but are got no closer to getting back to the top of the Premier League.
That lack of success, and a huge outlay, have left investors ready to pull the plug.
'They went into this to make money but the club hasn't got into Europe, flopped in the league and spent well over £100m on transfers,' a City source told the newspaper.

    article-2379656-194583AD000005DC-884_634x410.jpg

'The fact Luis Suarez is for sale is no coincidence. Selling a star player is a classic sign of wanting to get out.'
According to sources, Liverpool approached Saudi Aramco to discuss sponsorship some months ago. The oil giants are said to have proposed a takeover instead, an offer that Henry and Fenway are considering.
Investors are said to be furious at the money wasted under Kenny Dalglish, which includes £35m on Andy Carroll, who has since been sold to West Ham for a huge loss.
Despite Suarez's value doubling in his time with the club, he has caused other problems, notably with Patrice Evra and Branislav Ivanovic.
The sources said two other US billionaires are interested in the club, but would not reveal further details.

    Ancelotti: Ronaldo is a phenomenon

    298028_heroa.jpg

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has described Cristiano Ronaldo as a "phenomenon" and a cut above anything he has ever previously worked with.

The new Blancos coach, who arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu from Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer, was speaking ahead of his side's Guinness International Champions Cup campaign.

And when quizzed on the credentials of the Portuguese, Ancelotti was more than glowing in his appraisal of the 28-year-old.

"I've trained tons of talented players," Ancelotti said. "But Ronaldo is a phenomenon. He has an incredible talent, physical quality, and I'm extremely happy to be able to coach him.

"He's very professional, and I'm convinced he's going to have a great season."

Ronaldo finished second in the Liga scoring charts last season, netting 34 goals in 34 matches. Only Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi scored more, tallying 46 times.

Real Madrid kick off their involvement in the ICC with a match against the LA Galaxy at University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona on Aug 1 and face Paris Saint-Germain in a friendly in Sweden on Sunday.

Zaha: I don't want Man Utd loan exit

    299654_heroa.jpg

Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha does not want to be loaned out during his first season with the club.

United acquired the 20-year-old from Crystal Palace in January of this year before immediately loaning him back for the remainder of the 2012-13 campaign.

He went on to play a prominent role in the club's promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs and has subsequently been strongly linked with a second temporary stint with his boyhood team in the English top flight.

However, after scoring his first goal for United during their 2-2 draw with Cerezo Osaka on Friday, Zaha has underlined his desire to make an impact in his debut campaign at Old Trafford.

"My own target for my first season in Manchester is to be able to get minutes," he said. "I don't want to go out on loan or anything. I just want to play when I get the chance."

The one-cap England international also insisted that he is not phased by the prospect of competing with the likes of Ashley Young, Nani and Antonio Valencia for a starting berth.

"That is the gamble I had to take," he added. "I am prepared to take that gamble. I enjoyed my time at Palace but I am at Manchester United now.

"There are bigger players than me here, so getting minutes will just do me fine."

New United boss David Moyes also lauded the winger following his positive contribution in the pre-season friendly clash with Cerezo.

"Wilfried has done well," he said. "He has been quite quiet because he is still getting to know everybody, but he has had an impact in the games.

"We want to try and bring him along nicely. Tonight will help because he showed the players that he can make things happen.

"We want all players at Manchester United to score goals and he has come up with an important one."

Blanc: Cavani could face Real Madrid

    294442_heroa.jpg

Laurent Blanc has revealed Paris Saint-Germain's €64 million signing Edinson Cavani could make his debut for the club in a friendly against Real Madrid on Sunday.

The Uruguay international will link up with his new team-mates in Gothenburg this weekend and the 47-year-old PSG boss will assess his physical condition - and that of Thiago Silva - before making a decision over their participation.

"That's very difficult to give you an answer to that question," Blanc told reporters at a press conference.

"Edinson arrives in Paris this Saturday. We have to see what condition he is in. Thiago Silva arrived on Thursday. Will he be ready for Bordeaux? For the moment, I don't know. At any rate, he has been working hard in Brazil and he is already in pretty good shape. We will see if they are ready, but we won't be taking any risks."

The contest with the Santiago Bernabeu outfit is set to throw up several reunions, with Carlo Ancelotti clashing with PSG for the first time since departing les Parisiens earlier this summer and Zinedine Zidane - who is now Madrid's sporting director - sitting in the opposite dug-out to former France team-mate, Blanc.

And the former Bleus boss then compared Ibrahimovic with the France great for the impacts the pair have made in their respective countries.

He said: "Yes, I think you can [compare Ibrahimovic and Zidane]. Zlatan represents a lot here. He is Swedish, so it's normal that there is so much attention on him here. I think he is proud of that because he represents a lot for the people of Sweden. We are talking about two football icons.

"It's always great to see him again. Throughout my playing career, I always preferred to playing with him rather than against him! But it is always a pleasure to catch up on and off the pitch."

Paris Saint-Germain kick off the defence of their Ligue 1 title against Bordeaux on August 3.

Cazorla plays down Arsenal to Atletico rumours

    257808_heroa.jpg

Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has played down rumours linking him with a return to La Liga with Atletico Madrid this summer.

The 28-year-old, who joined the Gunners from Malaga a year ago, was reported to be subject to heavy interest from los Rojiblancos this month, but he was keen to play down the transfer speculation.

"Much has been made the subject of Atletico Madrid, but I am very good in London," Cazorla told gathered media at a campus in Oviedo. "I have a contract with Arsenal and I start training on Monday.

"We'll see when I come back to La Liga - it is very difficult right now."

Cazorla did, however, express his delight that Spain international team-mate and new Atletico Madrid striker David Villa secured the transfer from Barcelona that he craved this summer.

"I'm very happy for him because he's had a difficult year at Barcelona with the injury, and now he can enjoy football again."

    Oliveira makes Rennes loan switch
    190492_heroa.jpg

Nelson Oliveira has joined Rennes on a season-long loan deal from Benfica. The deal includes the option of making the transfer permanent at the end of the season, with the striker moving to the Stade de la Route de Lorient after spending last term with Deportivo La CorunaThe 21-year-old was not able help the Galician side avoid relegation from La Liga, netting just four goals in 31 appearances.

However, the Portuguese appears to have done enough to impress new Rennes boss Philippe Montanier, whose Real Sociedad side relegated Deportivo with a 1-0 win on the final day of last season."Nelson was our priority," Montanier told the club's official website."He is a promising and complete player."Oliveira admitted that it was Montanier's presence that convinced him to join Rennes, and he says is hoping to repay the faith showed in him by the Britanny club.

"It (Montanier's influence) meant a lot. I observed how he evolved Real Sociedad last year," Oliveira explained."He called me several times and clearly explained to me that he wanted me. It was a very important element in me coming to Rennes.

"The most important thing will be to help Rennes. I want to repay the confidence that the coach and the club have shown in me."I hope to have a good season, score goals and do my best."

Liverpool deny reports that club is up for sale

    JOHN-W-HENRY_2781143.jpg

Liverpool have denied suggestions owners Fenway Sports Group are considering putting the club up for sale.Fenway, headed by Liverpool owner John W Henry, completed the purchase of the club from fellow Americans George Gillett and Tom Hicks in October 2010.

Despite heavy interest in the club, Brendan Rodgers' side have failed to secure a place in the Champions League and finished seventh in the Premier League last season. But both the club and Fenway Sports Group have been quick to quash a report in The Sun that the club is unofficially up for sale for around £350m.

The newspaper reports that Saudi Arabian oil firm Saudi Aramco recently attempted to buy the Anfield club and states that City banking sources claim two American billionaires could also be potential buyers."Fenway Sports Group has made its position clear, Liverpool Football Club is not for sale. There is no truth in this story," said a club spokesman.

A spokesperson for Fenway Sports Group said: "Like so many rumours in the past about a sale of LIverpool Football Club, there is absolutely no truth in this."We have had no meetings with anyone about a sale, we don't know who the source of the rumour is."

The new class of '92? Everything you need to know about the crop of young stars coming through at United

As Manchester United’s class of 1992 swap the dressing room for the bootroom as they take their first steps into coaching and management, Sportsmail runs the rule over the next crop of prodigiously gifted homegrown talents looking to etch their names into history at Old Trafford.
The stars of Adnan Januzaj and Jesse Lingard have shined brightest on the club’s pre-season tour of Asia and Australia, with Lingard scoring three goals in two starts and David Moyes has confirmed that the pair are set to be handed first-team opportunities this season.
Moyes said: ‘Both have done well and adapted well and made contributions to the team. It’s a tradition at United to try and get young players into the team and both have come through the system.

    article-2379971-1AF4AC8D000005DC-997_634x437.jpg

    article-2379971-1B012B66000005DC-53_634x521.jpg

Hopefully we can get both some playing time next season but both need to keep their levels up and keep making an impact in training and games.’
Lingard, a Manchester boy, has already spoken of his desire to make a sustained impact on the United first team and he believes that, along with fellow homegrown youngsters Tom Cleverley and Danny Welbeck, David Moyes has a generation that can look to replicate the sensational achievements of Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and the Neville brothers.
The 20-year-old winger said: ‘Obviously people want to copy the 1992 era. I’ve known Danny and Tom from when I was little. They were at United with me when we were young and they’ve stayed, pushed on and progressed. Hopefully I can follow in their footsteps.’
The promise and potential is a source of excitement for the rank and file at Old Trafford, and combined with imports from at home - Phil Jones, Wilfried Zaha, Chris Smalling and Nick Powell - as well as from abroad - David De Gea, the Da Silva twins and Uruguayan full-back Guillermo Varela - new United manager David Moyes may have inherited a squad blessed with all the ingredients to create another dynasty of unrivalled success at Old Trafford.

    article-2379971-0C4158B000000578-673_634x432.jpg

    THE HOMEGROWN TALENTS
    JESSE LINGARD - 20

Where does he play? Very much a modern winger, Warrington-born Lingard combines impressive dribbling ability with intelligent running off the ball, drifting inside off the left flank to find himself in goalscoring positions. The Englishman is capable of playing on either wing or in the number ‘10’ role in behind a frontman.
What’s he achieved? An FA Youth Cup winners’ medal in 2011 was followed by something of a halt in his progression and Lingard was ineffectual during a difficult loan spell at Leicester last season. Sir Alex Ferguson and United’s youth coaches have been patient with Lingard as he has developed his physique in the last couple of years, with David Moyes now reaping the rewards.

    article-2379971-1B041B81000005DC-740_634x624.jpg

Lingard has scored 3 goals in 2 starts on United’s pre-season tour, and scored the first goal of the Moyes era against the A-League All-Stars in Sydney. His pace has been an exciting and valuable outlet on the counter-attack and his speed of passing has shown all the signs of being coached the United way. Surprisingly, he is yet to be capped at any level by England.
Fun fact? Lingard was born and bred in Warrington, just 15 miles away from United’s Old Trafford home.
What they say...’Jesse played well tonight. I was hoping he would get a hat-trick. For a young boy to get that at Manchester United is a big thing. He set up Robin for his goal with a nicely weighted pass, he worked really hard and showed a lot of maturity. It is good.’ - David Moyes after Lingard scored twice in Australia.
What he says...’I believe in myself but I have to start believing in myself more. That is what the coaches have been telling me. I have to know what my game’s about and keep scoring.’

    ADNAN JANUZAJ - 18
Where does he play? He is one of those very current and fashionable ‘floating’ midfield players, operating in the hole behind a forward. He can play centrally or out wide and drift inside into the gaps – and is not hugely dissimilar in style to United’s own Shinji Kagawa.
He has excellent vision and awareness and has that knack of instinctively seeking out space and angles amongst the gangs of opponents. The left-footer is also a superb taker of set-pieces.
What’s he achieved? The Kosovan-born Belgian made the bench for Sir Alex Ferguson’s final game in charge away to West Bromwich Albion in May. He has also been one of the most impressive performers on United’s tour, attracting praise from David Moyes and Ryan Giggs. Barcelona have registered an interest in the player, too, with Januzaj’s current deal set to expire at the end of next season. United must tie him down.
    article-2379971-1B041B8D000005DC-669_634x476.jpg

Fun fact? He shares the same birthday, February 5, as former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona’s Brazilian forward Neymar. No pressure, lad.
What they say...Sir Alex Ferguson: ‘Adnan is a beautifully balanced player. He’s only 18 and still to grow into his frame. But he has good balance, good acceleration and he’s a very good technical player.’
What he says...’Ever since I was five, I’ve loved to play football and always had the ball at my feet. I am just trying to make a career in it because I really love football and I hope to keep going and do something for the future.’

    MICHAEL KEANE - 20
Where does he play? Keane is a talented centre-half, composed with the ball at his feet and has an intelligent reading of the game. He still lacks the stature and power of Phil Jones and Chris Smalling, but with the right work in the gym, he could soon emerge as a a valuable defensive option for David Moyes.
What’s he achieved? He spent the second half of last season on loan at Leicester City, where he was nominated for the club’s end of season Player of the Year award. He also started both of Manchester United’s Capital One Cup games last season, and performed well despite United going down 5-4 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. He has appeared for England at u-17, u-18, u-19 and u-21 level. He is on United’s pre-season tour of Australia and the Far East and has made two appearances so far.

    article-2379971-1B041B7D000005DC-551_634x534.jpg

Fun fact? He has a twin brother who also plays for United called Will. Could they be the new Neville brothers?
What they say... Leicester manager Nigel Pearson: ‘He has a bright future in the game. He is very highly regarded by Manchester United. It’s an important time for him and he does give us quite a bit of quality.’
What he says... ’Leicester was a great experience for me. I played every game since I went there in January. It’s been tough for me physically but I have learned how to cope with my body and perhaps play against different types of strikers. I think I have definitely improved in my time there and I think I’ve done very well.’

    WILL KEANE - 20
Where does he play? A striker and one of the most clinical finishers at the club. He is deadly inside the penalty area and has also been likened to former United man Teddy Sheringham in his style.
What’s he achieved? Sir Alex Ferguson had planned to bring Keane into his first-team squad last season, only for the young forward to suffer a cruciate knee ligament injury playing for the England under-21 side last summer.
He had previously appeared off the substitutes bench with United chasing a late equaliser in a 2-3 defeat at home to Blackburn Rovers on New Years Eve of 2011. Keane won the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award in 2010 and scored a hat-trick in an FA Youth Cup semi-final in 2011. After missing the entirety of last season through injury, the 20-year-old is playing catch-up but remains a hugely promising prospect.
    article-2379971-1B0443F4000005DC-519_634x501.jpg

Fun fact? Despite being of Irish ancestry, the Keanes are of no relation to angry namesake and United legend Roy.
What they say... Sir Alex Ferguson upon learning of Keane’s injury: ‘I’m very, very disappointed for the lad. He was in the first team squad for next season.’
What he says... ’I always aim to be top scorer but usually just look at them at the end of the season. My aim going into every game is to try to score and then take it from there. I’ve always been a striker, always played up front going for the glory!’

    JACK BARMBY - 18
Where does he play? Again a versatile attacking player, comfortable as a second striker or on the flanks. He is capable of producing the extraordinary, with real power in his shooting. He has a strong and dominant build, and allies his strength with technical poise.
What’s he achieved? The 18-year-old has been at Manchester United since July 2008 and has represented England Under 19 level, where he has played four times. He finished as the top scorer in the youth team in the 2011/12 season with 13 goals.
Fun fact? Jack is the son of former Everton, Liverpool and England wide player Nicky Barmby.
What they say... manutd.com describe Barmby as ‘Capable of producing the spectacular out of nothing...he is a threat whether out wide or playing down the middle.’
