Here's an off beat anime that I really enjoyed :
While its a sci-fi based anime, there's no galactic wars or action scenes. Its a slice of life/comedy type story. Even though its a comedy it touches on serious subjects like racial discrimination, assimilation, alienation.
The main character is Mayuko, a poor girl who lives at a bathhouse while going to college and works hard to make ends meet as well as sheltering Niea an Under 7 class alien (name of the series is based on her) who is living with her.
There are very touching scenes like when Mayuko gets a whole bag of white rice and gets so happy as if she won a million dollar lottery.
If you like anime that doesnt involve obnoxious kids/teens with huge robots, galactic wars and shouting long ass move names while fighting, give this anime a shot. You might actually enjoy it. There's only 13 episodes so wont take long to download either.
