Honda Civic Hybrid

Thanks

Fuel consumption is low compared to Prius. Patta bande. Body parts same as the normal civic. But the price is little high.

I have been driving one for about a year. 2011 model.

- Prices range from 3.0 million to 4.4 million for 8th generation and 5.4million upwards for 9th generation.

- Nothing in particular. However, you need to put the recommended oils at the recommended intervals. For example, you need to change CVT fluid with Honda CVTF at least every 20000km. Always use genuine Honda oils and the vehicle will serve you well for a long time. When changing tires, your need to put LRR rated tires for best fuel efficiency.

- Fairly ok. But not as high as Toyota of course.

- If remains unused for too long, the hybrid battery in 8th gen models can start having problems. The Civic hybrid is an excellent vehicle if you run high miles in a given month, but it's not a good vehicle to have parked for days and unused. If you are buying a used vehicle, check the hybrid battery health (can get it checked from Stafford) just to be sure.

I run about 1500km per month and get around 16-17kmpl fuel consumption on average. This is 50% colombo heavy traffic and 50% outstation + highways combined. It has great handling and driving experience, stylish interior/exterior. Definitely better than a Prius in my opinion. Personally I am very happy with it.

    Dear ramishka,

    Thanks for your detailed comments.
Are there any special things to check when we are buying this car ?

Nothing much really. I've got couple of friends who have these cars and i'm yet to hear about any specific fault other than normal running repairs.

The only thing that can give problems is the battery. If you buy a 2007/2008/2009 model, ensure you have the latest battery/engine/motor control module software. The 2010 and later models come with the latest software. Others you can get it updated.
If the vehicle you are buying has a new hybrid battery installed, ensure that they had updated the battery control module software when they changed the battery. Most people change batteries but dont know that sometimes the control module software need to change for the new battery.
When you get a battery health check done, you will see something called "High Voltage Battery Usable Capacity" in the scanner report. Make sure this is at least above 35%.
Most of the checks above can be done at Stafford or any technician with Honda Diagnostic System. But some even at Stafford dont know or dont care about the battery software updates etc. If you cant find a good place PM me i will send you contact details of my technician.

It's a good car. You will like it when you drive it.
