    1. Burn the OS image file on to a disc or an USB stick.

    2. Make sure you have more than one partition on your HDD. Move all your important data to the secondary partition. If not, you will lose all those data.

If you do not have more than 1 partition.
    a. Use EaseUS and split your HDD into 2 or more partitions.
    b. Always set the new partition size same as the free space on your HDD. So, the existing data on the HDD will not be overwritten. Ex : If you have 100GB free space in your HDD, set the new partition size to 100GB.
    c. Don't worry if the partition seems odd. We can later fix it by GParted, the partition tool in Linux.
    3. Insert the source into respective drive/port and reboot the system. [Make sure you have set the boot order properly]

4.When it asks to select the partition to install Linux, you have to do a tricky job.
    a. Select the new partition we just created.
    b. Create the swap area. Set it double as your physical RAM and leave the rest of the partition unallocated. Set the mount point to /
    c. Now create an ext4 partition on the unallocated area and select it for the installation. Set the mount point to /
Once the installation is done, you will see the old partition as NTFS. You can access it and use the data on it normally. But, if you want to share that NTFS partition over your network, there is another tricky work to do. Lets talk about it later on!
