It helps monitor the in ear temperature. This is the closest to the brain and could help understand the situation if a fever occurs.

I brought a similar one from the mothercare shop in Colombo for 8.5K. It was totally worth and takes only a second to measure the temperature.

Not really machan. I don't see how you could measure the internal temperature with that. And if you ever had kids you will know how hard it's to keep a thermometer for 1 - 2 mins at a time. So such devices are introduced which are more accurate and only takes a second to get it.

Got 2 and both lives past their infant age just fine with just a digital themometer
