What is the best lens for 5100

I am looking for a prime lens for portrait photography. I have a nikon D5100 camera.
Which is most suitable form bellow lenses?

1. Nikon AF-S 50mm f1.8G
2. Nikon AF-S DX 35mm f/1.8G

if for portrait ideal is 85mm or 100mm macro

but the thing is those lenses are bit expensive

since D5100 has a crop factor of 1.5X 50mm means 75mm and 35mm is 52.5mm

I would recommend to go to 35mm and there are little more area than the 50mm to play around

f/1.8 is more than enough machan. 35mm will do better I think.

DX is for Crop Sensor Cameras like D3200/3300/5200/5300/7100/7200

FX is for Full Frame Cameras line D600/610/750/800/810 etc etc

difficult to post experience since I don't do close-ups and portraits and even I don't have a prime lens. I have the Nikkor 18-140 and a Tamron 150-600

How much the Tamron 150-600mm was?
I only have lenses up to 18-100 from a couple lenses. Even the 300mms are expensive.

ought from CameraLK it was Rs. 132,500/-
70-300 is available for around Rs. 56,000/- & 55-300 is about Rs. 35,000/-

Go for 50mm 1.8G
50mm 1.8G is Better than the 35mm 1.8G
if you are going to do portraits go for the 50mm
because you can take photos with more Bokeh
google it
