Usage Pattern
- About 09 Hours since last charge
- Number of Sims Used : 02
- SIM 01: 2G Only (You can restrict the Non-Mobile Data SIM to "GSM Only" mode through a specific hidden menu in MIUI. Otherwise, it captures the best available network mode. For instance, if there's a WCDMA connection available with 3-4 signal bars, it will opt for the WCDMA mode instead of 5 signal bar GSM mode. Due to lack of signal strength in this particular example (3 signal bars), it will consume more power of your battery)
- SIM 02: WCDMA and 4G
- Voice Calls : 05 Minutes
- Brightness : Automatic (Used the phone for about 20-30 minutes under sunlight)
- Mobile Data : For about 08 Hours
- Wifi : For about 01 Hour
- GPS: For about 05 Hours
- Apps Used Frequently: Facebook, WhatsApp, Camera, Google Maps
As you can see, the SOT is almost 2 and half hours when the battery has reached 49% (It was 50% just before the screenshot was captured).
If you're gonna use WIFI throughout the day, you will have a far better SOT. RiFTeR once said that he had a SOT of closer to 7 hours. He had watched a movie as well.
If you can manage it carefully, yes you can extend the battery life.
Tips
- Try to use WIFI as much as possible and reduce the usage of Mobile Data as much as possible.
- Set the screen brightness to manual mode and keep the screen brightness as low as possible.
- Set "Sync" to "Wi-Fi Only".
- Enable Battery Saver mode (however, I have not seen any considerable difference with this mode)
- Don't use any 3rd party battery saving apps (they end up consuming more power )
- You may get more battery power if you can use dark colours (i.e using dark wallpapers) because I've heard that the white colour consumes a lot more power compared to dark colours)
- To save data, turn auto update off in Play Store.
That's all what I can remember right now.

Thank you very much for screenshots and tips.. When i was searching in miui forum came across hidden battery saving mode called ULTIMATE LINK HERE.
And are you using double tap to awake mode? or fingerprint unlock? does fingerprint unlock consume more battery?

Guys i'm facing a different kind of problem with my display, can you please put ur MI5 on double tap to awake option and lock the display (display/screen off) and wait for 10 - 15 minutes and then unlock it. now can you see any small green line in top middle of the screen?

Most of the time (like about 70% of the time), I double to tap to wake the phone up and then touch the home button to unlock. On other occasions, I directly press the home button to wake and unlock simultaneously.
I don't think that the fingerprint consumes the battery to an extent where it affects the overall battery life
I've got a simple tip for you. You may already be aware of it. Instead of double tapping, keep the finger in the middle of the screen and then swipe the finger down slowly to the bottom of the screen. Whoa! The phone wakes up
The slow and long swipe is detected as a double tap Probably a bug.. Do you have this general swiping issue in your phone? (The problem which makes the life difficult to swipe notifications from the notification bar. The problem occurs not only with notifications, but also with apps such as Facebook,Instagram (when you swipe stories),etc. You need to precisely swipe the notifications horizontally. There are many threads reporting this bug. They had however said that they would resolve it in its upcoming stable release. The nougat based 8.2.2.0 was released and I still feel that the bug exists

Yes spoke with seller and took 35USD back. by double tapping wake up the screen, the green line only appears for double tap option otherwise everything is cool

and lots of process i have to sent it back to get a new one.. but there is no problem with normal screen awake, only problem for double tap.1) MIUI 8.2.2 latest version.. issue was with previous version also.
