This is the problem machan . They only give renewable resident visa for foreigners and has to renew for every 2 years. They are looking for citizenship in sri lanka. is this possible?

Yes.. The short answer is she can. If a Sri Lankan male marries a foreign citizen then then she can get SriLankan citizenship. But the reverse isn't true. Thank Sir DS for that. Otherwise half of the Middle east would be in SriLanka.

Check with the Dept of I&E. What I said is correct. Even the SriLankanan Citizenship is from the father. When a child is born, no matter where, if the father held the SriLankan Citizenship at the time the child is born , then the child has an entitlement for SL citizenship..
Note- The citizenship of the mother is irrelevant.

Check with the Dept of I&E. An indefinite Visa is issued without any problems.. but the real Citizenship is a bit questionable. But the offspring have absolutely no problem. It's quite clear in the Immigration Act.

I heard , it is very difficult to get Sri Lankan Citizenship. Even every foreigner have to visit their country per 02 years for temporary citizenship. Even SL partner died automatically cancel the citizenship...

What is the meaning of indefinite VISA machan?

She can stay in SriLanka without a problem. Also any children they have are entitled to claim for SL citizenship as long as the father holds SL citizenship when the child is born. But if a Srilankan woman marries a foreigner then this is not true.

it is very difficult indeed. but they do it anyway machan. I just want to know the procedure. Some even have lifetime VISA.
