What I'm saying is people are through with voting out of desperation. They are through with dreaming of a utopia.

What they're going to do before voting is comparing the Rajapakse era with the Yahapalana era.

That's why Rajapakses are winning EK polls left and right, note that they never won an EK poll before the Yahapalana regime came to power, in fact, they lost every poll in a huge margin.

    Time will tell.
In the end they'll get what they deserve. :)

If this was the place we all dream of we the people would've been able to give them what they deserve

All we can do now is hoping that the Karma would catch up with them

Back in 2015 this argument would've held water...

RW and MS promised the same thing and made everything worse. People won't vote out of blind trust after what they did.

Not everything. Rule of Law has definitely improved over the past few years.

its not what they promise. they promise to punish the other party for their wrong doing.

and nagananda don't say what I have said. It just my opinion.

Do you honestly believe that the majority of people trust the rule of law more now, more than they believed in it back in 2015? 'cause I don't

definitely..no random live firing at protests, no rugby players dying off freak accidents, no presidents visiting "kudu importers" once they're rounded up by officials ? need I say more ?

What about the provincial council henchman/thugs that were rampant back then? There was this guy in my area where he even took ransom from rambutan sellers..known rapist/murderer. Did all this while in MR's lap.

Even Naga himself must have lost the trust in rule of law - judges bailed out when he filed a case against politicians for corrupt vehicle imports, he lost his position as a lawyer for all his efforts, members of the ruling party and lawyers themselves accuse judges of being biased, partial and corrupt in front of media, for the same charge 2 people receive totally different punishments, the rule of law was a joke back in 2015, it's still a joke in people's eyes

didn't say things are perfect...It's just that things are more or less "under control" when compared to 2014. People have the right to at least protest without fearing for their lives.

I didn't say that the Rajapakse era was perfect either... looking at poll results, however, it seems that people prefer the Rajapakse era more than the Yahapalana era - and no one can't blame them for that, 'cause Yahapalanaya didn't really make a difference for good. In the people's view, they have made everything worse.

UPFA henchman/thugs got replaced with UNP henchmen and thugs. I wouldn't call it progress

except they are leagues apart.Even a 5 yo would know the reputation of a typical Pohottu henchman. Murderers/rapists/drug addicts - basically human scum

    Agree!
but there are levels of brutality - like raping a 16 yo. I could just quote so many examples..

Maybe you could. Every example you quote would prove how pathetic the rule of law in this country is now.

Knowing all that, how can you possibly believe that the people think the rule of law in this country has taken a turn for the better under the Yahapalana rule?
