You are partly correct. The LTTE saw to that our intelligent political leadership got eliminated. They conveniently left out the the idiots and used them too. That's why we are at this juncture. We have certified idiots (and crooks) running the country. Not one single politician with a vision exists.
Many living in the lalaland happily believe certain people are capable of bringing prosperity to the country. Unfortunately the reality is far from different.

I might add.. As you correctly said most of the capable people who could make a change, sadly left the country. Many academics left during the heights of the JVP problems.

We needn't go that deep to find the cause. Just compare the figures of last year's and this. And anyone can see the reason.
It's not that we can't do it, cos we HAVE done it!
