You opened a thread about a vehicle I have used (and sold) for more than 6 years. So is it wrong that I commented my experience? When you open a thread do you only expect replies that support your argument? To be honest I don't think you have ever driven a FD3 or a well maintained FD series Civic for that matter.

You never answered my question directly. Have you driven the FD3 and FD1 to compare the initial acceleration? Because I have and I have owned both those cars. Let's cut the crap. You havent driven both these together and just blabbering based on what you hear.
Also if you can read properly, I was talking about the initial few seconds acceleration due to the torque of the electric motor. Someone has to be fucked in the head to say FD3 1300 CC engine + motor is more powerful than FD1s 1800cc engine (FD3 - 90 + 20 = 110HP, FD1 - 140HP as I remember). So read carefully before you embarrass yourself.

I've seen worse shit advertised on vehicle selling sites even for Toyota (Premio gold badge, Vezel Orange package lol). Its the buyers responsibility to filter what they want and do the background checks on the vehicle they are buying. If someone advertises a hybrid as a non hybrid and the buyer actually gets tricked and buys it, the buyer is an idiot and deserves The shit thats coming to them for not doing the basic research for a several million rupee investment they just did. This is valid when buying any vehicle model in the market in SL today.

    // initial few seconds
I have driven all FDs except fd2. ok lests say its faster than fd1, fd 2, fd 4 for first few seconds. for 3-4 seconds acceleration you would buy a discontinued car with hard to find hybrid battery?

Who said it's a reason to buy that car? The only reason to buy the FD3 over any FD model is if you run high number of miles per month. I've clearly mentioned NOT to buy the FD3 otherwise. Read my replies properly or we are both wasting time.
And why exactly is the hybrid battery hard to find?

You tried to sell the FD3 with a drained battery and with the IMA indicator on right? Of course people will ask for a low price - try this with any other hybrid and you'll see the same results. You messaged me on this site asking for help on FD3 battery and I replied more than 10-15 times offering whatever help I could. I even pointed you to some places where there are aftermarket batteries since you were unwilling to go with Stafford. As I told you back then, you had got caught to a really poorly maintained vehicle.

I commented here saying the vehicle is good because that was my experience. Different people can have different opinions based on their own experiences right?

According to most folks on here, 90% Honda vehicles are failed:

    Vezel - DCT issue
    Grace - DCT issue
    GP5 - DCT issue
Civic Turbo - Low market value coz 1000cc
    FD3 - Hybrid battery issues
CR-Z - Low market due to 2 door
    GP1- Engine oil burning issue

What's a good Honda to buy in SL then? CR-V?
Most of the people who spread stories about the vehicles above have never driven one, nor have any first hand experience over the issue they are spreading rumors about. If I were buying a vehicle, I would buy what I love to drive rather than what random strangers on the internet want me to buy.

whats the cost of the battery at stafford? DCT cost 450,000 with labor.

    There are many fun to drive Honda's Civic ViRS , ES1, ES5, ES8, FD1, FD4. HRV, CRV

Do you realize almost all the models you mentioned except the CR-V are several generations old and currently out of production (technically HR-V is still in production but that's just a rebrand of the Vezel in US market)? So there is no fun to drive Honda that isnt a 'failed vehicle' in their current lineup at all according to SL experts? LOL.

As I remember hybrid battery for FD3 would cost you close to LKR 600000 at Stafford. This is more or less the same at the agent for almost any Hybrid include Toyotas. In fact, battery for vehicles like Mitsubishi Outlander and Nissan Leaf will cost you close to 2 million LKR.

As for DCT issues, do you guys really know what percentage of cars actually develop the DCT issue? Just because a friend of a friend you know maybe got it doesnt mean 90% of those cars have it.

My brother had DCT issue in 2014 Vezel and it cost 450,000 in Stafford.

So is FD3 a fail vehicle in SL market? yes or no? (Dont compare with US market cause buyer is in SL for ikman ads)

If you actually read me replies properly I've already answered this question several times. FD3 is not a failed vehicle for someone who runs high number of KMs per month. And I'm saying that with my personal experience. I've specifically told anyone who does not run that many KM a month should NOT buy this car (I told the same thing to folks who came to buy the car - I could have sold this in 2 days but I didnt want to sell it without explaining the full picture before selling it).
If you are planning to run 300km per month and keep the car idle for 20 days a month, this is probably the worst car you can own (or any NiMH battery based hybrid for that matter). I ran for 125000km in 6 years and it gave me very little trouble and definitely less trouble than my previous Toyota Corolla. So in my experience it was not a failed vehicle and I loved that car.

My issue with this thread is you were claiming it was a failure regardless of the use case and hence I commented. And how long have you used this car? I don't think you were an actual user but just jumping on the bandwagon. Anyway this argument is going nowhere. You're not reading my replies properly and I'm just wasting my time repeating myself.

I also had a 2010 FD3. When I bought it it's hybrid battery level was 14% when I checked it from Stafford. Because of this I could buy it for way cheaper than the regular price of a car with good battery. And I used it for 3 years without replacing the battery. Mostly I've driven it around Colombo (actually short distances 10km round trip everyday to office and back). However when I visited my home (upcountry) I remember 2 or 3 incidents when I had to completely stop the car to open the gate at my home entrance which is an extremely steep private road. And still were able to move up normally, however if I had to stop twice like this on this steep road, car would move very slowly uphill (with full throttle) due to lack of support from battery. This is the only issue I had during those 3 years.

However even after 3 years, I never replaced the battery. And I put on an advertisement to sell the car. Just like you've told, I could've sold it in 2 days but I also didn't want to sell it without explaining full picture. I explained the battery issue to every single person who came to buy it. Most of them didn't want that trouble and went away. If I hadn't have told this, or reduced my price I could've easily sold it. I didn't want to be fraudulent. To every single buyer who came to see the car, I explained the battery issue and the amount it would cost for them to fix a new battery. And still my price wasn't that cheap either, so it took some time to sell. I managed to sell the car for little less than the market value at that time, but I sold it for 9 lakh more than what I bought it for. Used 3 years, didn't replace battery, explained the buyer that they have to replace battery soon if they are buying it , and still managed to keep a 9 lakh profit. It's been like 2 years since I sold this car now. About an year ago when I called him, he was still using the car with the same battery.
My advice is, if you can buy another car with similar options for this price (which I seriously doubt) go for it! , don't buy the FD3. You don't want all hybrid trouble. But if you can find an FD3 with a decent battery ( 20% or more) for a cheaper price you can try this car. Probably you can buy FD3s for the same price they sell 20 years old ES1 models.

Good on your for being honest. There is no point selling any vehicle via false advertising - bad karma will always catch up to you.

I replaced my battery under warranty just before importing the car as it had spent 4 weeks idle on a ship while being imported. I never checked the capacity of the original battery but my importer was good enough to replace it with zero cost for me. Car was on this battery for 5+ years and it was still good when I sold it. It had 28% capacity after 100000km. And it took 3 years to drop 8% from 36-28%. Honda battery capacities seem to work on non linear weird ways - they start out at 75% and can drop until 15% and as the capacities lower the curve of drain seem to flatten out. Anyways last I checked with the buyer, the car was running perfect 6 months later I sold it o nthe same battery.

My house is also on a steep hill and this car had no issues climbing it while some other 1300cc vehicles definitely had issues pulling up to our driveway. I was running between Kandy - Colombo twice every week on this 8 times a month which included the Kadugannawa climb. Btw when you had it stalling on the hill, did you try the S gear?

Anyways I replied to this thread because the OP obviously had not done any research about this car and I had. Then again I saw him commenting on a thread saying Euro/German vehicles are bad. My current vehicle is German made - now i'm scared because I didnt listen to elakiri experts just like when I bought the FD3.

I tried S gear only when I had to completely stop the car on that steep hill road. This car never had any issues climbing up hills when it's on the move. So I almost always used D.

But none of the things we said might be valid for a car with usable capacity is very low like 5%. Such a car won't move up steep hills at all, isn't it? So if someone is interested in this car, key thing is doing a proper battery condition check up. And don't buy it if you're planning to keep it idle for most of the time. It will drop the usable capacity quickly.
