It depends on the severity level of your ADHD. Some have mild symptoms and can successfully manage their condition with treatment while others have severe symptoms and treatment doesn't help them at all.

I have inattentive type ADHD and have got treatment from top psychiatrists in Sri Lanka for many years, have tried all treatment options including medication, cognitive behavioral therapy, group therapy, etc. - nothing was effective.

There's no cure for ADHD. There are several drugs (not all available in SL) but these drugs only work to ease out the symptoms within an active window of time. Even the long acting slow release ones will wane away by late evening.
The neurotransmitters dopamine and norepinephrine appear to play a role in the attentional and behavioral symptoms of ADHD. A doctor cannot tell you in advance a particular drug works for you or whether if it will work at all. So generally a trial is made while changing drug regimes. Quite often, adults with ADHD could present with other conditions that need additional treatment as well.
That's why the phrase "“Pills do not substitute for skill" is used.

The best way is to find a method to manage it. It can be done, but takes a lot of effort and not easy. There's so much information now available from the Internet.
Both ADHD and Autism gets underdiagnosed in SL. :(

Yes the psychiatrists changed the drug regimes on me several times but no medication including methylphenidate provided me the slightest relief.
