It's all about comfortability & Fluidness.

I mean it's not pragmatic to carry your chunky cards everywhere you go n pull up those whenever you need to pay for something no ?

You can add multiple bank cards, get discounts, privacy protection, Reed loyality points, QR scan etc etc.

✅ Why Google Pay Can Be Better Than Tapping Your Physical Card

    1. Added Security (Tokenization)

When you add your bank card to Google Pay, your phone does NOT send your real card number during payment.
Instead, it uses a tokenized virtual number.
    Benefits:
    • Your real card number is never exposed to merchants.
    • If the token is compromised, it can be replaced without replacing your physical card.
    • Harder to clone than a magnetic-stripe or contactless card.

    2. Device Authentication Required

    Google Pay usually requires:
    • PIN
    • Face unlock
    • Fingerprint
    before payment.
This means if someone steals your phone, they can’t pay without your authentication (unless you explicitly turned off screen lock requirements).
    Whereas:
A lost card can be tapped by anyone until the bank’s contactless limit is reached.

    3. No Contactless Transaction Limits (in many countries)

Many countries have a tap limit (e.g., $100–$200) before requiring a PIN on the physical card.
    Google Pay often:
    • Has no limit OR
    • Allows higher amounts without requiring a physical card PIN.
This is because the authentication happened on the phone.

    4. Works Even if the Card’s NFC Chip is Damaged

If your card is worn out, cracked, or demagnetized, Google Pay still works.

    5. Easy to Disable Remotely

    If your phone is lost:
You can remotely wipe it or disable Google Pay instantly.
If your physical card is lost:
You must call the bank and replace the card.

    6. More Privacy

Some terminals get additional metadata when you use a physical card.
With Google Pay, merchant receives less information.

⚠️ Limitations of Google Pay vs. Tapping Your Card

    1. Your phone must be charged

If your battery dies, you can’t use Google Pay.
Some Android phones support “battery-reserve NFC,” but not all.

    2. Terminal compatibility

Most terminals accept mobile NFC, but a small percentage still only read card-based NFC (rare but real).

    3. Google Pay may not work for:

    • Transit gates in some systems
    • Older payment terminals
    • Some offline transactions
    • Countries where Google Pay is limited

    4. Requires setting up screen lock

Some people dislike needing a PIN or fingerprint to pay.

    5. Risk of phone malfunction

    If your phone:
    • freezes
    • loses NFC connectivity
    • has software issues
…Google Pay won’t work until rebooted.

    6. Does not support all card types

Some banks or card types (prepaid, gift cards) may not work with Google Pay.
