I do not know about applying for Aus PR by obtaining heavy vehicle license but regarding you saying you are too old, add 10 more years to your life now and you will say you were quite young now, then..

In here there are 3 categories of heavy vehicle licenses, I am aware of - Light Rigid, Medium Rigid and Heavy Rigid

When I last checked, I remember VicRoads mentioning, LR can be obtained by having the car licence itself - it's for driving a small Toyota Coaster type bus

Just pop into a Learners and inquire about doing the theory test for a start..
