It is a normal thing even before these scammers. I worked with a few clients who were in Bali before Covid
I've been to Vietnam for work. I was staying at Ho Chi Ming D1, very happening country, awesome nightlife. You could rent a luxury apartment for about 120-150K LKR/Mo, and live like a king if you can spend about $1500 for foods etc.
Taxi/Food are very cheap. Country is safe (but there are some scams and not hard to get away from them) + Very pretty and tiny girls
, Quality of life is far better than in LK. There are so many tourists from Europe and US so it feels like a Europe country.
There are many Sri Lankans living there, I found couple of Sri Lankan restaurants as well.
I am not sure if you can obtain a long term visa unless if you are not working for a Vietnam company. You can get a visit Visa for about a month.

When compared to Bali and Thailand, Vietnam is considered up and coming. If Vietnam is that good, it means Bali and Thailand are way better too. Thanks for the info. Much love
