That's true.When the nvidia drop the GTX300 series cards ati on the blow machan.IT'S JUST A GOOD 4 PEOPLE WHO THINK 5 IS BETTER THAN 3.
IT DOESN'T MATTER.ATI 4870X2 DDR5 CARD HAS BEEN DEFEATED BY NVIDIA GTX 295 DDR3.STREAM PROCESSORS ALSO DOESN'T MATTER.ATI 4870X2 HAVE 800 STREAM PROCESSORS PER GPU.GTX295 ONLY HAVE 240 STREAM PROCESSORS PER GPU.BUT STILL GTX 295 IS BETTER THAN 4870X2.

Yes nVidia card might be better ... the chances are very high
but whats the price going to be like ??? the size of the chip is almost 1.5 times of the RV870 (Cypress) ... therefore ppl are speculating a price will be very high ...
... and as soon as the nVidia launches their FERMI cards, ATI will most certainly drop there prices .... this has been the trend with both the companies in the past ...
... so price wise the ATI cards will look more appealing ... ATI has been knows for their price/performance tactics .... and next ppl doubt whether the nVidia card will grab the best performance award since the single GPU Fermi card will most likely fall behind the HD 5970 ... so ATI might still hold the performance crown even after the fermi launch next march-april ( keeping ma fingers crossed)
and this is for the thread maker ---> the best option out there for u is to get a HD 5850 .... but another option is u can purchase 2 HD 5770 and crossfire them .. and it will cost u a bit more than the 5850 ...
and the performance will be better than even a hd 5870 ... TRUE.BUT WHEN THE ATI DROP THE PRICES STILL GAMERS ARE GOING 4 NVIDIA CARDS.WHY THEY WON'T GO 4 CHEAP ATI CARDS.BECAUSE THEY KNOW NVIDIA CARDS GOT MORE PERFORMANCE THEN THE PRICE.LET'S WAIT UNTILL NVIDIA RELEASE THERE GTX 300 SERIES BOMB AGAINST ATI.
What sort of performance do gamers want ... ?? it normally a card that will give good FPS @ decent price ... 25 minimum FPS is enuf for gaming if its averages out at 45-60 its great (no point in going above 100).... if u r crazy about benchmarking and record setting then its not gaming its another category ....
And not all the ppl have deep pockets out there ... only a few have enuf bux to purchase luxuries like 5870s and 295s ... in forums i find even ppl from the non-asian rich countries brag about high priced PC hardware .....
There is no doubt that ATi has the best price/performance ratio out there .. theres no doubt about it ....
... both companies have their pros and cons ... but what we shud look in to what suits us best... im no ati fanboy ... just a modest observer ...

if you're rich enough buy nVidia otherwise ATI because they offere much better cards(not as good as nVidia) for a less price.

u seem to be a hardcore nVidia Fan .... so no probs ... No game makers specifically make games supporting a particular card ... its just that nVidia help the developers on some occasions and in other cases its just that nVidia is advertised thru the game ...
well if u say that 80% of the games support nVidia then why do we get better FPS by using an ATi card compared to a nVidia one... for example
e.g like u mentioned FARCRY 2 ... i quote "warhammer:dawn of war II" (dawn of war is also supported by nVidia -says at game startup)... here the 4870 performs better than the GTX 260 not only it beats the 260 .. it also beats the GTX 275 ...

so does this result make the ATi card better ?? since it beats the 260 card even if it not supported ... ?? ... the reality is that each and every game is developed differently .... they are coded differently ... and thus the way the GPU is used to interpret and render the code/information will play a pivotal role in performance ....
therefore in some games nVidia performs well and in some ATi performs well ...hope u wud understand ...
