    From BIOS set your HDD to IDE mode. After XP install you need Intel AHCI driver. Restart & before you got to windows log in to BIOS and set HDD drive to AHCI mode (Only if it's sata)

    :yes::yes:

    In BIOS, change HDD mode to IDE (or maybe it's called ATA in your BIOS) mode.

    xp does not come with SATA drivers, so it has problems detecting SATA hard disks. You can supply the drivers for SATA, but it HAS to be done using a floppy :shocked::shocked:. Not worth all the trouble. Just change the mode so that the HDD will be emulated as an IDE drive. (that is xp will see it as an IDE drive
    )

    You can install SATA drivers after XP install & need to change SATA to AHCI mode before boot into windows

    I was not talking about after installing. I was referring to just before you get to the actual installing part where you can press F6 to provide the drivers.

    And even if you don't install the drivers you'll still be able to use the HDD, but without the extra features and performance of SATA.
