මුස්ලිමුන්ට සියලු පහසුකම් සහිත වෙනම පාසැල් ඇති බව අපි කවුරුත් දන්නා කරුණකි. එම පාසැල් වල සියලු මුස්ලිම් ළමයින්ට වුවත් පහසුකම් සැපයිය හැකි තරමට දියුණු තත්වයක ඇති බවත් පැහැදිළි කරුණකි. එසේ වුවත් ඔවුන්ගේ ව්යාප්තවාදයට නම් කිසිදු නිම් වළල්ලක් නැති බවත්, ඔවුන් සර්ව බලධාරීන් බවත් දින කීපයක් ඇතුලත අති සාර්ථකව ඉහලම ප්රතිඵල දක්වා දියත් කරන ලද පහත මෙහෙයුමෙන් පැහැදිළි වේ.
මෙය 2008 වසරේදී සාර්ථක කර ගන්නා ලද මුස්ලිම් ප්රහාරයකි. සියල්ල ආරම්භ වන්නේ දුප්පත් මුස්ලිම් කාන්තාවකගේ එක් මුස්ලිම් ළමයෙකුගේ හැසිරීම සම්බන්ධ ප්රශ්නයකිනි. එයට සම්පූර්ණ වග කිව යුත්තේ එම ළමයාගේ කොළඹ සිංහල බෞද්ධ පාසලේ ඉස්ලාම් ඉගැන්වීමක් නැති නිසා යයි Dr. Mareena Reffai නම් මුස්ලිම් NGO කාන්තාව තීරණය කරයි. එම බෞද්ධ පාසල් වල බුද්ධාගම ඉගැන්වීමද මැයට විශාල ප්රශ්නයකි. ඉන්පසු ඇය දිගට හරහට රජයේ සිංහල බෞද්ධ පාසල් වලට, විදුහල්පතිවරුන්ට දෙහි කපා, උදව් කරණ මෙන් ඉල්ලා 2008 පෙබරවාරි 22 දින විද්යුත් ලිපියක් යවයි(මෙහි එවකට සිටි මුස්ලිම් දේශපාලුවන් කීපයකගේ නම්ද සඳහන් කර ඇත ). හරක් මොළ සහිත මුස්ලිමුන් දිගට හරහට මෙයට පිළිතුරු සපයයි. මේ අතර වෙනත් මුස්ලිම් දේශපාලුවෙකුගේ හෙන්චයියෙක් මැදට පනී. 2008 පෙබරවාරි 28 වනවිට ඉහත මුස්ලිම් NGO කාන්තාවට අධ්යාපන අමාත්යංශයෙන් අවශ්ය ආරාධනාව ලැබෙයි.

Waalaikum assalam.
All what you say is absolutely right but if they are taught Islam in the school at least they will know Allah and prayers. We have weekly lectures for women and girls, and Radio programs in Tamil, Sinhalese and English on all these matters and also have regional and Colombo based seminars monthly on these matters. Our ummul mu'mineen school trains marriageable aged girls with the correct knowledge - including practical training for a truly Islamic life, all praise is due to Allah alone. Let's work on all fronts.
Yesterday someone delivered the attached ad to my consultation room. The ministry of education has called for ideas and suggestions on Muslims' education to be forwarded to Muslim education development society before 29th of this month.
We should take this opportunity and go meet Dr. Hussein Ismail. Hopefully we can get something done.
I will be sending the details of the schools which have no Islam as a subject to him and I suggest the lankamuslim forum sends the education trust draft to him so that it will be comprehensive study of the present situation insha Allah. Who will do the honours?

Some Muslim parents are concerned to send their kids to the schools especially private schools & most of those schools are not interested to teach Islam as a Subject. WHY?
Some parents are interested to send their kids for the evening tution after scholl rather than sending them to Quran Madrsas to learn Quran & Islam! WHY
Did anyone hear mostly the recital of Quran of the kids after Maghrib, rather than spending time with TV serials.?
So, while we consider about taking action in this regard lets do our part as parents to teach Quran & Islam in our home & environment.
Please, dont misundestand me & if you go & observe in most of the Muslim villages you will see the reality.
Anyhow I assure my cooperation to your efforts.

This may not be happening in schools where the numbers are insufficient to warrant a teacher, or where there is no pressure from the parents to make it happen.
But this should not stop us from taking this up through the Ministry of education through the many Ministers we have in the Government.
I am prepared to take up this matter with the relevant authorities if the details can be given,and I am sure Muslimaat can do it as well.

A poor widow appealed to us for help for her child's education and we were paying her a monthly fee. Recently she came to us saying the child is very unruly and when we tried to counsel the child we came to know there is no Islam taught at his school at all!
On investigating the matter, we came ot know that there are other government schools in Colombo too where almost 50% of the students are Muslims but they are taught only Buddhism. The principals have asked the children to be removed if they want to learn Islam.
What are we going to do about it? We tried to speak to the parents - most of them are from poor background and they are scared to bring this subject up with the principals since they feel their children will be penalized. And if the principals ask their child to be removed, there are no alternative schools for these children.
How do we change this situation? Will the politicians come forward to get involved in this?
Will the Education trust ever materialize so that these will be a piece of cake for us to handle?
Should almuslimaath try to do this or should the men, who think we should not, like Mr. Silmy and Mr. Abdul Samad akram come forward and do this?
